    Hello there,

    This is my first thread on this forum, but I read this forum for a couple of months now. I recently bought a couple of .eu domains and want to enter the casino affiliate business by august 15th. Regarding my ‘business plan’ (or ‘expectations’ at least) I would like to have your opinion:

    In short, this is my short term casino (1 year, so 15 august 2007) goal:
    200+ unique visitors/day => 1 real player sign up each day =>
    1. A player loses 60 dollars every month on average
    2. 25% revenue share on average
    3. Players stay for 6 months on average
    => Player base of 180 players
    => 2700 dollar monthly income

    Are these figures realistic and achievable?
    Can someone perhaps show me a site with 200 unique visitors a day, in order to have a clue of the level needed.

    About poker, bingo, sportsbetting and slots: I want to cover these as well, but my main focus will be on casino (that’s in my domain name also). But however, what are CTR’s there and average player losses/affiliate earnings per player monthly?

    By the way, what do you think of casinoreports.eu as a domain name? Splendid or too general? (I am very glad I have it but you always hear ‘internet is about owning the niche…)

    Last question: anyone would like to me my mentor? For example, greek39 I’d love to have you as my technical mentor, and guys like the professor, antoine, dominique, … great respect for you also.

    Greetz,

    PJ

    PS/ Personal info: I am a 20 year old business student from Belgium. I hope to make a small living with this by Juli 2008 (the time I graduate) so I can be an entrepreneur from the start without cash flow risks. I like sailing and making big plans, and my two passions are skiing and woman. But wondering if that is relevant around here… and oh yeah, I tend to write quite lond forum posts:hehe:

    Welcome to CAP casinoreports,

    i am quite a beginner myself,
    but from the Netherlands, so maybe i can share some info about that,

    the figures you mentioned seem realistic, but all depends on certain circomstances, it can differ a lot from site to site

    Hi Elgoog,

    thanks for the answer, seems like so far, I don’t have to change my estimates.

    Yep, I noticed your dutch site recently. There is also another Belgian guy here, don’t know his name but it’s the one from casino-gids.be.

    I see you are working in several languages. This should become one of my differentiators too. Because I live in a university city, it’s really easy to get in touch with native speakers from all over the world. I guess you’re doing the same.

    If you would like to share some regio specific info and/or player values, conversation and click through ratios, … please feel free to pm me.

    Hi PJ, welcome to CAP. I think you will find that many on this board serve in a pseudo-mentor capacity already by giving quality answers to posts like yours.

    As for your estimates, it’s a little hard to tell if they are realistic or not without knowing your target market (ie: US, UK, worlwide, etc.), and without knowing your plans for marketing, and how much time you have to devote to this (being a student and all). So, I will assume you are marketing worldwide, plan on building traffic primarily via SEO and have 20 hours per week to devote to this. That being the case, here’s my suggested revision to your numbers.

    A. Unique visitors. 200+ per day in one year for a brand new site is unlikely. Google could keep your site in the Sandbox for up to 2 years, meaning you will be relying on Yahoo, MSN, non-competitive keywords on Google and type-in traffic. Within one year, if you work hard at it, expect closer to 50 uniques per day.

    1. The $60 number seems close enough. When I started, the research I saw was $200, but that seems a little high, so $60 is more like it. You will get the occasional whale that will bring in $1000 in a month, but most are smaller fish.

    2. Yes on the 25% revenue share.

    3. 6 months on average. This one is way off. Some players stick around that long, especially in poker and sportsbetting (longer in fact), but that’s a rarity for casino players. The average I’ve seen is about 1 month. You get some that stick around a long time, but most come in, deposit their money, loose it quickly, and move on to somewhere else.

    Finally, take a look at the recent polls that show the real income of affiliates based on how long they have been around. That’s quite a good poll, and can give you some realistic revenue goals.

    Ok,

    many thanks webber 286.

    I’ll do a quick remath of my casino expectations:
    50+ unique visitors/day => 1 real player sign up each 4 days =>
    1. 60 dollar losses each month
    2. 25% rev share
    3. 1 month average
    => player base of 7,5 players
    => 112,5 dollar montly income

    Quite a change with the 2700!:1circling

    But let me criticize, I think you are underestimating at least one of the factors, because now one player is worth 60 dollar * 25% = 15 dollar each month, and CPA is around 50 dollars… and if there is one thing that I know for sure, then it’s that rev share is more profitable then CPA. Just my 2 cents…

    Many thanks about the poker and sportsbetting input. I quite like the fact that they stay that long.

    About my marketing plan:
    Concept: general casino portal (think I have the domain name for it)
    First: English
    Then: translations in as many languages as possible
    Differentiators: languages + personal touch (I will blog)
    casinoreports.eu will also be linked at casinoadvice.eu, casinocomments.eu, ABCasino.eu and thecasinodirectory.eu, four others site names I own. Each will have a specific profile but all integrated in casinoreports.eu.

    Bottom line: whether it will make me 110 dollars or 2700 a month, I will try it at least!

    greetz,
    PJ

    One update. I read your $60 figure as the 25% amount. You should figure the average loss at $200 x 25%, so that should help your figures a bit.

    As for conversion, that entirely depends on how you position your site.

    Many thanks Webber286.

    200$ a month is a lot those players lose:omg:

    That will be my major problem… I would never ‘waste’ so much money myself.

    But I like the whole casino thing and every thing around it though.

    I don’t gamble online either. And, after being an affiliate, I could never bring myself to do it after watching 90% of people loose (with the exception of poker, which is more skill based). There is a reason why this industry is so profitable.
