Laurent, did you you ever hear any more from Playtech about what they were going to do about this? On the plus side, I think the spam may have finally come to an end (or a pause, at least).
September 25, 2006 at 8:39 am #707238AnonymousInactiveHey – Sorry for the late reply.
Yes, they told me that basically the thing for the certificate was a mistake on their hand, and they’re now removing quite a few other casinos that were using our certificate.
Regarding the status with 21magic. They assured me that everything had been said and done to prevent further troubles with those people. I didn’t get full details about “said and done”, but i believe it was straight forward enough to make everything stop.Hopefully that’s the end of a very painful experience for everyone.
Laurent
September 25, 2006 at 9:31 am #707240AnonymousInactiveThanks for your response, Laurent. This is good news. I hope to see and end to all the email spam, but remain a bit skeptical
I will do more research next week when I get a chance to see if it has changed on the SSL side of things.
Thanks.
September 25, 2006 at 2:41 pm #707260AnonymousInactiveThank you the update, Laurent.
I’ll admit that my opinion of Playtech has been damaged considerbly, probably beyond repair. The fact that they consistently ignored all of my requests to find out what they were doing about the spam spoke volumes.
Still, at the moment it’s quiet… fingers crossed.
Thanks again.
September 25, 2006 at 3:12 pm #707265AnonymousInactiveWith all due respect, they don’t answer to you. Put this issue in their perspective. They’re a public company. Every single move they do can be a liability to their investors, clients etc… Trust me when I tell you that. They are extremely cautious with everything that has anything to do with the law, and spam is included in it.
As far as i can remember none of playtech powered casinos have had their main casino/affilite program domain shut down by their registrar due to spam activity. and we can’t say the same about MGS which i believe are still heavily promoted on your site…Laurent
September 25, 2006 at 3:26 pm #707271AnonymousInactiveWith an equal amount of due respect, Playtech-powered casinos have spammed in measures that no Microgaming casino has ever reached. And that’s why Microgaming are on our sites and Playtech, for the most part, are not.
September 25, 2006 at 3:28 pm #707272AnonymousInactiveLet’s not argue here of who’s doing more etc… I’m sure we have as many opinions as there are members here.
September 25, 2006 at 7:02 pm #707294AnonymousInactiveMGS as a company would not allow their casino operations to spam like 21 Magic, Amber Coast, Monaco Gold, etc…… have done. They would have put an end to it MUCH more quickly – I think we all know that.
The hosts did not shutdown the casinos/affiliate program servers because the spam is coming from elsewhere… Duh. Nobody is stupid enough to spam from their own servers. Especially this amount of spam – which would have taken up all the bandwidth of even a large server cluster.
I am pretty sure that right now, if we put out a poll…. it would be 99.99% Playtech spams and 00.001% MGS spams. Sorry – but the deluge of spam has ensured that none of us are blind to it’s origin or casino of choice.
I understand Playtech’s lack of response due to shareholders, but if they do not respond to us as to what the hell is going on – then we continue to push the issue and it just becomes more public. The only way it will go away is if they fix the problem and ensure that it won’t happen again. I mean – this was like a 4-6 month problem that nobody even took a look at until the pressure got too high.
It’s ridiculous if you ask me – and very short sighted for Playtech to allow it to continue and do nothing about it. REALLY short sighted.
September 25, 2006 at 11:15 pm #707328AnonymousInactivekwblue has pretty much said everything I could hope to say – and that is probably my last contribution to the debate unless Playtech casinos re-start their spam campaign.
The hard facts are that Microgaming casinos have been 99% honest and that Playtech casinos have been 99% spammy. Ask any poor bugger who has received thousands of spam e-mails this year where it has come from and it’ll be Playtech – not Microgaming.
End of.
September 26, 2006 at 8:15 am #707375AnonymousInactiveSo now the opposite of honnest is spammy? That’s quite an interesting way to put things together.
I think we’re all done with this thread.
Laurent
September 26, 2006 at 12:13 pm #707400AnonymousInactiveNo – I don’t believe that the opposite of honest is spammy. Not at all.
Playtech has not been dishonest with us. In fact, they haven’t said anything at all – so there is no way they could have been dishonest.
My comments in the thread are not to bash Playtech but to bring up a valid point in the way they allow their operators to market illegally without repurcussions. I like Playtech casinos, but I have very few that I can promote because I refuse to promote casinos that are knee deep in spam. It really sucks if you ask me, because I would love to have as many Playtech casinos to market as Microgaming casinos.
I can understand your frustration, Laurent. We really just want a resolution to all of this and some sort of acknowledgement. AND – most of all, we want proof that this is going to change. I am sure that you are hoping for the same since it would certainly help us ALL out.
