The .casino gTLD entered General Availability status yesterday. After the first 24hrs of general availability, there were 1,447 registrations for the .casino extension.
Those numbers also include registrations from the sunrise and landrush periods as well!

June 7, 2015 at 1:30 pm #837328seogirlMembertoo expensive and I have never seen any kind of this new themed domain in search results.
June 7, 2015 at 4:09 pm #837329seedingltdMemberWhat are they thinking? As a 20 year investment it is risky but it is not a bad one. Perhaps at that time people would be more comfortable using oddball tld’s. When people do start using them search engines will list them, but I do not think it will ever happen. We have our big tld’s and this whole vanity tdl thing is likely going to end as registrars taking everyone to the bank.
June 8, 2015 at 9:40 am #837334AnonymousInactiveI was excited when I found out about this extension, and I put together a list of all the names that I want to register, UNTIL I saw the price hmmmm
June 8, 2015 at 9:51 pm #837335KWnzRUdapzMemberIt’s a lot of money but I’m thinking long term it may rank a lot better. I see some .vegas sites ranking now
June 9, 2015 at 7:08 pm #837338JoshuaCoarMemberWill be interesting to see how google treats these gTLDs in the future and whether the .casino element is treated any better/worse/same as a .com or .co.uk etc. I expect it will be all the rage as time goes on until some kind of EMD-type algo change starts demoting sites…

That’s exactly what I think will happen.
July 17, 2015 at 7:27 am #837415AnonymousInactiveLooks like we’re starting to see a few .Casino domain sales now…
Kazino.casino – $5,592 USD – 6/29/2015 – Sedo
Star.casino – $11,373 USD – 6/19/2015 – SedoJuly 18, 2015 at 12:03 am #837416AnonymousInactivePeople have all sorts of ideas about how much some domains are worth, but in reality, they are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them.
July 18, 2015 at 10:46 pm #837417ppdabppmnMemberI picked up a few themed extensions last year, and just let them all expire a few months ago.. I threw up a few and just didn’t seem to rank like their .net counterparts. Long story short, I will stick to .com / .net sites.. If I’m still holding anything in 30 years from now, I would want it to be one of those.
Aside from that, with all these new extensions, maybe it will open up some .com’s while people are chasing after themed domains.
