This makes very interesting reading, and in particular gives you
quite an insight into how the DOJ views online gambling. It’s
late in the evening for me so i’ve skipped over most of the legals.what i found most interesting was the testimony of one of the legal eagles who visited casino city web site.
enjoy

November 7, 2004 at 11:36 pm #657367AnonymousGuestVery interesting.
This brings up a topic I am sure we’re all very interested in.
What effects will another 4 years of the Bush regime have on our industry?
November 7, 2004 at 11:59 pm #657370AnonymousInactiveThis was filed some time ago – I think I have had it for over two weeks although the given date is the 1st of this month.
Casino City is not impressed – this is exactly what they expected. Their first comment was posted here in the legal section.
It’s just delay tactics and busy work. Nothing new was brought up.
This is the first step of many to follow.
There are two issues dealt with there – Is internet gambling illegal and is advertising it illegal. Two completely seperate questions.
Actually the two issues don’t really have anything to do with each other – but we don’t mind them being brought up together at all.
It is interesting to follow all right and I look forward to Casino City’s reply.
Bush’s reelection is not a good thing for this, but we have to wait and see who his new cabinet will be before speculating.

believed that the massive turnout in the polls was to vote dumbya
out of office not vote him in DOH.The doj people are smart and they are the establishment , they
can make a very good case that promotion on websites is aiding
and abetting. The first amendment wont apply to illegal activity
and they can even take the moral high ground. If i was based in the us i would be getting together with fellow
gambling webmasters putting all the gambling asssets into an
offshore company and appointing non american nationals as officers of the company. Then you just get paid dividends as a
return on your investment.make sure that i have another source of income, even if its
commission from flogging satellite tv just to keep the irs happy.November 8, 2004 at 1:13 am #657373AnonymousInactiveWell my judgement is obviously flawed because i really and truly

I don’t know if you know that one of Casino City’s dream team of lawyers is the one who helped Bush win the election last time around. He is a smart man, and we like seeing him on our side now.
I am not all that worried. I do pay my taxes, and I have other income to fall back on.
I am just angry about it all. It is just so much harassment – in the end I am sure the US will regulate online gaming.
November 8, 2004 at 1:44 am #657376AnonymousInactiveyes im sure online gamblings got a bright future,i’m really an
optimst HONESTLY.In business i was always taught to draw up
contingency plans for a worse case scenario – its second nature
now.I’m drawing up a business plan based on good old GW pushing
the global economy into recession LOL:bigsmile:take care
November 8, 2004 at 10:05 pm #657408AnonymousInactiveLMAO
You cant prove we were targeting you after all we havent came after you so you have no basis for a suit … furthermore if youre worried that we might come for you – then you may very well be doing something you shouldnt.
…. To establish standing to challenge a criminal statute prior to prosecution, a plaintiff who “allege(s) an intention to engage in a course of conduct arguably affected with a constitutional interest, but proscribed by a statute,” must demonstrate a “credible threat of prosecution” that is more than “speculative”
What a waste of tax dollars – ANSWER the freaking suit and put all the BS aside! Either its illegal to advertise or its not!
November 9, 2004 at 12:13 am #657413AnonymousGuestthis is so much horse shit.
Gov needs to wake up and smell the coffee. there is a shit load of US poker players who would raise hell all over the place if they had their poker games taken away from them after having had access to them for this long.
I think its a lost cause now. They might as well give up and start regulating.
*not that I think either regulation; or the opposite; will be good for the aff.
One thing is for sure; we affs are going to look a lot more important to the casinos if Vegas comes online because while Vegas will have its regulations to speak for its integrity; the only ones to speak for the casinos currently online will be those affs who have built up enough loyalty and trust amongst their surfers that they will choose to continue to play the casinos not regulated by the Feds.
IMHO.
