    Guys

If any of you aren’t aware already Casino Action have had their eCOGRA seals removed. Worth noting that this is a) highly unusual and b) probably very serious, as they don’t do that lightly. I love CA, but personally, I find this very worrying I’d be very cautious. It could mean anything and there has been no clarification of why this action was taken, but if it turns out to be cashflow problems…!

    Cheers,

    Simmo!

Pending rectification of the problem, I added a warning to their casinos on G&C.

This will cause players not to sign up, but if they recover makes it quick to reinstate.

I have always liked this group. There is something very wrong though, and unless we hear of an aquisition soon, we may be looking at the demise of a program that is liked by both players and affiliates.

I am crossing my fingers that they do the smart thing….

I asked Jon about this, and he said that they are looking into it.

How nice of eCOGRA to send their email on a Friday afternoon/evening, to maximize the damage done over the weekend. Pricks.

Personally, I could care less about eCOGRA. I never take them into account when deciding who to promote. eCOGRA has 888 listed as an approved site, for crying out loud. Give me a break.

A couple years ago, they decertified Brightshare briefly for spamming, but they did nothing about 888’s blog spam-a-thon that same year.

Something is wrong with that picture.

In London, I think I overheard someone from CPS say that the casinos changed ownership. Maybe that has something to do with it. I also think it’s possible that CPS just didn’t pay the monthly/annual fee to eCOGRA. We will have to wait and see.

This group has an outstanding reputation, and I think they deserve a chance to explain the situation. I urge everyone to give them a while to figure out what is going on. Please don’t trash their good reputation because of one vague, useless email from eCOGRA.

I am leaving their casinos up until I know all the facts.

    Could not agree more Engineer.

Let’s give them some time to react.

I believe they will have a good explanation for this.

I do not remove the casinos until futher notice and do not warn players about this, it only will make them confused and no one needs that at the moment.

Let’s hope it is just a minor glitch.

I agree with Dave, the program should have the chance here and they should have been notified first or something before they were yanked of the seal. I am not removing either, CPS has always been upstanding and I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt here in this situation and Dave raises very good points about the whole 888 thing.

I totally agree – they are a great program and I’ve always liked them.

What I am saying in a roundabout way is that if it is cashflow problems, you could be sending them players that you won’t get paid for – your call obviously, but common business sense shouldn’t get overlooked. All I was suggesting was that you might want to be cautious about placement until we all know what it was that caused it.

I really hope they come through this ok, and while my heart says keep them high, my head says deprioritise until the reasons are forthcoming.

These two guys crazy.gif crazy.gif took the casinos over from Brian and apparently honestly didn’t know that all that money in the bank wasn’t an asset but the funds required by micro to cover winners and affs.

So they got booted by ecogra and microgaming took the licences back.

The casinos remain open so far although there is evidence of them being moved, i.e. some games not functional and carrying the sign: try again later.

I happen to know that there are buy offers on the table so I hardly think Micro will close the casinos. At least not as of yet.

LOL…I meant the one I tried to get across in this thread a few days back. But anyway, there’s still hope – every chance someone will buy them up so let’s keep hoping.

If it’s easy to pull’em, pull’em. Put them back later when we know.

If it’s hard, add big fat warnings for now.

    That’s what I recommend.

This must easily be the worst news story of 2008. I would pull them.

This is a damn tough call to make. I have no time for ‘fair-weather friends’ and I don’t want to be one either – but I also don’t want to risk sending players to somewhere where their money is going to be at risk.

Dominique mentioned offers on the table. While this whole affair is bad news, it could be worse. There’s no way that all these casinos will disappear because the brands are well-establsihed and have a great history. I’d lay money that they will either be bought out by different existing opertors, or the Microgaming Bird Of Prey, Carmen Media, will get them all at a decent price, maybe kill the non-performers if there are any (iBig? Golden Reef?) and the rest will continue under new (or existing) management.

Seen it before with Trident, and with Adriches (minus the Carmen interest)….i’m pretty sure it will happen again. Too good a brand to just liquidate.

Also good news is that it’s MGS. They have a policy of looking after creditors so players and affiliates will probably get paid. Some time anyway.

The lesson here for affiliates is to pay attention to the software providers when you choose who to promote. You take on “unknowns” or the RTG’s of this world, and unless you choose very carefully, it can bite you later. Can you ever see RTG releasing a press release like MG’s? Or even policing the reserves held by their licencees. I think not.

    Spot on.

I think it’s actually for the better if the good brands get taken over by a bigger group. The retention has been poor. The worst of all MGS groups IMHO.
If someone like FL, CR or G3 grabs the brands it’s better for us affiliates.

This seemed to be as good business though. From the outside it looks like someone has run it into the ground. I feel sorry for the staff up in Brisbane. No wonder people have been ducking for a while now.
