I’ve got to get a passport anyway, but for people who have traveled to Bahama’s before without one, be aware of the New Passport Restrictions: Effective December 31st, 2006, all U.S. citizens traveling / returning from the Caribbean must have a valid U.S. passport in order to re-enter the U.S.
September 19, 2006 at 5:42 pm #706550AnonymousInactiveI have been to all these destinations except the Crystal resort but I have been several times to Atlantis in the Bahamas.
I can say without a doubt the most beautiful beaches are on Aruba and there is alot to do their. This island caters to Americans as this is their biggest market.
It is a 3 hour flight from Miami and has a 7 mile beach strip with hotels and such. No hurricanes either, it is worth some research. I love Atlantis and it is beautiful and as a group we could get a good rate. But be forewarned everything else is very expensive, guessing a Pina Colada may run $10 bucks and a beer over $7.
If you are also looking to do business in Curacao, Aruba is a 15 minute flight away and also a very good place to extend your trip, it is a very different island than Aruba.
Just some thoughts from someone in the area.

September 25, 2006 at 6:15 pm #707287AnonymousInactiveMy vote was cast for Crystal Palace, but my wife says anything that gets her out of the house is okay by her.
September 26, 2006 at 12:03 am #707330AnonymousInactiveI voted for Atlantis because it is a great place to bring the whole family. At least it was the only one I knew would be. Maybe the other Bahamas place is good too. Anybody know?

Australia – as long as its not tooo hot at that time of year. 40 degrees is a bit steep for me Actually thinking about it, I might need comp’ing as my life wouldn’t be worth living if I didn’t take my other half and her daughter :1Dialog:
September 26, 2006 at 8:23 pm #707458AnonymousInactiveMexico is on my neverending “to do list” so… :bouncer:
September 26, 2006 at 8:39 pm #707459AnonymousInactiveCrystal Palace for me (since I haven’t made enough money doing this to go anywhere). Cancun would be my second choice as I’ve been several times but it would be the last place I would wan’t to be over Spring Break.

I can’t wait for those summer days to come back.
CAP Winter(Summer) Getaway in Australia still sounds good to me
September 27, 2006 at 11:26 am #707545AnonymousInactiveAll those places sound great but I think Bahamas would be fun, I’m not opposed to SA or Oz either though, some time in the future. As long as its not TOO hot!
The main thing is the party :shots:

As for hotel choice, I went to Atlantis for an affiliate event a few years ago and it really is an experience. Yes some of the rooms are pricey but in this case you really get what you pay for. Everyone is on paradise island which makes sense, the casino is fine, and theres a couple of bars / nightclubs to enjoy, not to mention the restaurants.
Most casino affiliates have the cash to treat themselves once a year, and those that dont could always speak to an operator
October 1, 2006 at 8:29 am #708244AnonymousInactiveI would like to hear more from Islandman and others who have been to the places mentioned
While some of us are looking at a good place to bring the family, others might be looking for a good place to explore their wildside
Besides mentioning which places are more family friendly and singles friendly, it might be a good idea to give out rough estimates of how much each place will cost, as well as any group specials or discounts we might get if we pool together, etc
I haven’t been to any of these places, but i have been considering heading to the Bahamas lately, and this would be perfect, my first Convention too
Also, it would be nice to get an idea of the crowd, are people going alone, with their families, etc, i hear you guys mentioning bringing your kids, then i hear you mentioning getting totally liquored up, so it’s a bit confusing, is it divided like families on this side, liquored up singles on the other side, sounds like potential mayhem
Maybe some pics of each place would be good too, and pics of previous conventions
Forgive my newbie requests, but there are probably a lot of people like myself who would find this info useful
As for Australia…
I thought people only went there as a form of punishment
My apologies in advance Renee, Trish, Jacqui
October 1, 2006 at 3:37 pm #708268AnonymousInactiveAustralia rocks, as far as I am concerned it is by far the best place in the world. Warm, safe, unique, the great barrier reef, rain forests, the list goes on. On the downside I dont think many Americans would be willing to go that far since most who live in southern states are used to getting on a 3 hour or less flight to get anywhere.
I think that the only prerequisite for most of us is that the caribbean island has direct international flights either from Europe or Toronto. That way we can avoid touching soil with ‘the land of the free’. Most Islands you have to fly through Miami or Fort Lauderdale so that does reduce the number of opportunities.
