Seriously considering holding my own awards ceremony that night :cuss:
I’m not bitter really :wink-wink
October 23, 2008 at 1:40 pm #783726ZlzmbmaxMemberYeah, good luck to all of you on the various lists.
I know a few of those mentioned and if the rest of you are of the same calibre as those then the competition will be very tight.
Russ – you and me both, son. Tell me, what categories will there be at your own private awards?

Affiliate Manager beard wearer of the year
Worst Affiliate Manager CAP Interviewee of the year
Affiliate Manager most likely to rub American affiliates up the wrong way
A special award given for outstanding services to Reading and Basingstoke tourismAnd of course there’ll be the obligatory ‘biggest cock award’, which I’m currently 3/1 favourite for in the handicap market +6 points.

October 23, 2008 at 2:12 pm #783734carolineMemberI’d definitely vote for Monsieur Palmer in the:
“Best 1984 Umbro shorts wearing Affiliate Manager” catagory.
They were a classic, vintage pair of slacks you pulled from the archives last night mate

All I can say is never assume anything – If you think someone shouls win VOTE – If you think you shoudl win hit up the industry to VOTE for you – The more people we have voting the better these awards will be

LOL Oh man this is an interesting thing to be part of. I’ve had a rough few weeks in my ‘campaign’ effors for Obama, and I’m not sure if I have the strength to do it for myself! :roflmao:
To bad Martyn is not on the list because I know that he would run a very entertaing CAP Awards campaign! LOL
October 27, 2008 at 7:49 pm #784257EvelinessaMemberI really like to see how creative people get with their campaigning efforts. i’ve seen people campaigning on twitter, facebook groups, newsletters, etc. Keep up the creativity!
May the best candidate win :hattip:

We are not campaigning -we are just sending emails to all cap members that if we don’t win we will all be bringing life sized naked cutouts of ourselves to the Award show.So if you really want to keep your food down and not be traumatized vote for the Casinobonusguy Team!

How disappointing.
I would like to think that I have worked diligently to earn my nomination.
To find out that the winner is going to be the person who has set up the most social networking sites degrades the award to little more than a popularity contest, which is a shame when you look at the kudos attached to it.
That’s obviously my own opinion, but I was really proud to be nominated as I thought I had been recognised as having done a good job.it would appear though that despite my nomination I don’t really have a chance when I am up against peers who have the time to engineer votes and turn the awards into not so much a recognition of a job well done, but rather a reward for having the most friends on facebook.
October 27, 2008 at 10:08 pm #784271AnonymousInactiveHey there Neil! :hattip:
That’s an interesting view and while it’s a legit one, I don’t think that we should ‘limit’ the avenues used for promotion of this event. The goal is for industry recognition IMO and ‘social networking’ is the in thing right now so basically “that’s life”. lol
I love those sites and I’m not planning on doing it that way, but do feel that other folks should be allowed to if they choose so I don’t see a problem with it.

You absolutely earned your nomination, and it’s definitely not a popularity contest. We have particular fields on the voting form that are mandatory in our best effort to keep things industry related, and those who are campaigning are typically doing so through their business/industry related contacts.
The fact that you were nominated by your followers shows that you are being recognised for doing more than a good job, but a GREAT one.

Hey Arjun and Robyn
I’m not saying its a bad thing, it was just a personal opinion that ‘campaigning’ for a prestigious award like this somehow, in my opinion devalues it. I don’t think it works that way at the Grammys or the Oscars for example!
But if that’s the spirit then I will enter into it whole heartedly!
I am a tenacious little mofo at times…maybe a little outspoken as well, but those are the skills that make me good at what I do (in my opinion!)
Anyhoooo may the best/most popular person win, look out for my forthcoming pm based campaign and um…VOTE THEBOYMITCHELL!!!!
Ps – I was kidding about the pm-ing!
