I have also started up this thread http://www.pokeraffiliateprograms.com/forums/general-poker-affiliate-discussion/15918-pap-cap-event-australian-2009-a.html#post92895 to get a better idea of numbers and to spark interest.
January is also the time for the Australian Open tennis in Melbourne and is mid-summer. Great time for a holiday and to hit the beach. Melbourne is also the cafe and party capital of Australia.
The Australian Tennis Open is also on at this time which creates a problem. Last year it put a real squeeze on accomodation as both events continue to grow this is only going to get worse. Just something to keep in mind.
The APPT Event in Sydney was really good last year, a lot of top pros were there and the event is much more open. (ie Not just a Full Tilt event like the Aussie Mills) the guys running it were really great last year.
In saying this though, Star City Casino probably isn’t as nice as Crown in Melbourne, the rooms especially are no where near the Crown Towers rooms.
June 16, 2008 at 1:26 pm #770254RaiderPokerMemberAny news on whether this event is going to happen?
June 16, 2008 at 1:31 pm #770255AnonymousInactiveSasha is looking at venues at the moment – It is likely to be Sydney in the first week of Dec 08 to coincide with the APPT at the same time xxhttp://www.appt.com/
The event will be a lot smaller than something like CAP Euro but is there to start our localised events where we will be aiming at around 6 – 8 sponsors and exhibitors, 150 – 200 delegates (Max) and some really good high end content. Of course some people will fly over for it but the event is predominatly focused on bringing out you locals, NZ, OZ maybe SE Asia, etc.
What do you reckon??
June 16, 2008 at 2:08 pm #770258RaiderPokerMemberSounds like a fantastic plan. I’m going to be in Sydney in December anyway so even better for me. Good to see it coinciding with the APPT.
When you sort the details out I can book some flights.
Thanks Alex,
Nick

That’s awesome. I had thought it might be a bit further away than that… but I’m glad it’s so close!
YAY!Mediahut – what holiday could be better than a week in Oz in the middle of summer?
June 16, 2008 at 11:07 pm #770287AnonymousInactiveDecember of this year? Wow! :wow:
Now I may have to choose between Barcelona and CAP Australia, since the events will be so close together. :tooconfus
June 17, 2008 at 1:33 am #770293StarBucksSportsMemberCAP OZ in Sydney would be great. Might give me chance to see some more of Aus. Haven’t left Melbourne since I got here

This is brilliant news!
All the crew from Carbon Poker had a great time last year at the APPT, will be great to combine CAP Australia in the same trip.
I might have to fire up another BBQ with my kangaroo steaks!
June 17, 2008 at 12:22 pm #770318ClubContMemberAs soon as I see official dates I will be looking at flights :hattip:

June 17, 2008 at 1:37 pm #770329ZlzmbmaxMemberThis talk of Melbourne and Sydney is all very well but I’d prefer either a CAP-Erinsborough or CAP-Yabby Creek. We’d def get a beer in Lassiters
June 17, 2008 at 1:56 pm #770334AnonymousInactiveWe could have the conference in Lassiters and have meetings in Harolds coffee shop of which the name escapes me!
June 17, 2008 at 2:15 pm #770338vladcizsolMemberAnywhere but Wolf Creek is fine with me.

It’s actually called ‘The Coffee Shop’ and Harold doesn’t run it anymore, Lou does. Harold left to go stay with his grand daughter Skye in Queensland…
BTW – Lou doesn’t run lassiters anymore either.. someone else does, and I haven’t watched Neighbours for so long I can’t remember who it is.

What about Bellanglo State Forrest.. Ivan Malat is behind bars now so it should be safe
