I haven’t been to Sydney yet, but Melbourne would be a great venue too.
It’s got a world class public transport infrastructure, the nightlife is great and it’s probably one of the most vibrant cities I’ve ever been to. Personally, it would take a hell of a lot to get me to move to another city from here :inlove:

Edit: It’s also the home of the worlds funniest game… Aussie rules football.
March 14, 2008 at 5:44 am #763234AnonymousInactiveAlex – better make that 105 as I get two magazines. Actually kept the extra this time to make sure I can get it removed and hopefully save you a few dollars. I’ve usually just handed it on to some-one else.
Schalk – not sure which public transport system you use but I speak to a lot of people who aren’t real happy with it at the moment. Anyway, most people can find something to bitch about with public transport I guess.
As for me, don’t really care where it is. I’m in Melbourne and it’s a great city and so are the others. If people stay on a bit longer then the hour flights north or south aren’t a big deal and bargains can be had so it’s easy to get around the eastern part.
Hey Renee what was that recent poll that said something like a third of Sydneysiders want to move away. Just kidding, heck I’m orginally from Launceston, Tasmania so who am I to speak.
Actually Brisbane would be my preference as I could combine it with other business work. For some reason most of my suppliers are in Brisbane but it gives me a good excuse to go there every now and then.
March 14, 2008 at 6:09 am #763235StarBucksSportsMemberLol. I come from Africa, so being able to use a train safely is impressive to me

April 24, 2008 at 4:39 pm #766493ClubContMemberWhere/when does Aussie Millions poker tournament take place?
Can you surf near Sydney and Melbourne?
When can we get to see Aussie Rules Football?I could google these up on “the google” but I’m just encouraging others to chime in here.

as far as ARF, not that i’m a fan, but tv is a good place to start :roflmao:
come to OZ land man, start a conference here or something. maybe finally i’ll get to meet renee as she lands safely from the junction :cappy: !
April 30, 2008 at 6:31 pm #766983RaiderPokerMemberThe Aussie Millions takes place in late January every year in Melbourne at the Crown Casino. I would definitely attend a CAP event in Australia. I believe the best location would be Melbourne and then Brisbane. I have heard a few suggestions for Sydney, but I think these 2 are better locations.
I hope to see as many of you over here as possible and look forward to meeting you.

To be fair you really couldn’t go wrong with Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Each city has its benefits for a conference, however as a Brisbanite Im happy with Sydney or Melbourne so it becomes a road trip! I’ve never been to Perth, maybe that should be a consideration too!
May 1, 2008 at 2:05 am #767006AnonymousInactiveit would have to be sydney or melbourne as they have the direct flights in from overseas.
May 1, 2008 at 8:03 am #767021AnonymousInactiveOk – Looks like there could be a possible event here for sure. In between organising Barcelona and Cyrus I would like to take a serious look at this. If anyone has any suggestions or would be interested in helping out mail me on alex AT iGaming Business DOT com.
At this stage I don’t see this being gigantic but reckon we could have a really nice 100 – 200 people conference and small expo.
May 1, 2008 at 11:15 am #767033frankBPMemberArrange it to coincide with the Rugby League World Cup in October and November this year and I’ll be there anyway! Now that would be good…
May 2, 2008 at 1:08 pm #767123vladcizsolMemberA CAP/PAP Regional Event down under would be a winner I think. It would be tough to schedule, produce and promote this year, but in 2009 it’s perfect. I think we should start evaluating venues and making the necessary plans to make this a reality.
May 2, 2008 at 2:29 pm #767133RaiderPokerMemberWhat about around the time of the Aussie Millions in January next year in Melbourne. It would be pretty busy but the place would be alive with poker players and the like. Plus a lot of people could kill two birds with one stone….
May 2, 2008 at 2:33 pm #767136vladcizsolMemberExcellent Idea Hazo! What are the dates of Poker Millions?
We do have CAP EUro London in January and we need to make sure there isnt a scheduling conflict.
May 2, 2008 at 2:57 pm #767139RaiderPokerMemberI just had a quick look and I’m not sure if the dates for 2009 have been released. The 2008 main event finished on Jan 20th. So I’m guessing around the 16th will be the date.
I have also started up this thread http://www.pokeraffiliateprograms.com/forums/general-poker-affiliate-discussion/15918-pap-cap-event-australian-2009-a.html#post92895 to get a better idea of numbers and to spark interest.
January is also the time for the Australian Open tennis in Melbourne and is mid-summer. Great time for a holiday and to hit the beach. Melbourne is also the cafe and party capital of Australia.
