I would be in for sure
February 8, 2008 at 12:13 am #760321AnonymousInactiveAustralia might be far but it is so worth the visit. But if you are traveling that far I do agree you need to stick around for a while.
February 8, 2008 at 1:20 am #760326pokersavvyMemberWell I seem to be in a win win situation here
I live in Sydney however i am a born and bred Cape Townian!!
I think when considering a destination like South Africa you need to think carefully about the following issues:
1. There is a definite lack of safe public transport –
2. Not the safest destination –Dont get me wrong – Cape Town in my opinion is the most beautiful city in the world! AND i am always happy for an excuse to visit my home town!!!
The trip to Oz is tiring – I travel to the US, UK and Europe several times a year and I have found that a little tequila and red bull can sort you out!!!
February 8, 2008 at 7:17 am #760335AnonymousInactivethat would be a great idea! besides a great backdrop for affiliate managers, it would be great for australian affiliates to get to one of these conferences.
any chance of putting on a niche, or micro, or mini conference. If not all programs want to come, then still have a smaller version.
I am in sydney, and never been in an aeroplane! I am scared of flying.
I could drive to melbourne if neccesary.February 8, 2008 at 11:41 am #760355AnonymousInactiveIf I went I would 100% make it a massive holiday as well – I would love to see Ayres Rock, The Gold Coast, Frazer Island, etc etc plus would like to go to New Zealand, Figi, Bali, Cook Islands — hmmmm not sure I will have quite enough time
A small micro conference may be a good idea – Out of interest how many actual affiliates do people think live in Oz or NZ – I can think of at least 10 :sarcasm: that hang out on the boards
February 10, 2008 at 11:16 am #760464Gyrnikol007MemberI reckon there would be more affiliates in Australia than most realise!
Knock together a poll and let’s find out!

Apart from this stuff, I would like to add that in Australia you don’t have to be as careful as say Europe watching your bags etc for pickpockets – i can pretty confidently say we don’t have them.. Our public transport is probably the safest in the world.. an every day person doesn’t have a gun. And compared to somewhere like Europe, stuff is pretty cheap here.
EG. I paid 11 euro for a diet coke in France… (about $19AUD) For the same size diet coke here Ill pay about $2 MAX… thats about 1 euro.
A hotel room in Sydney on the harbour will cost you about $250-300AUD per night. And thats with a Harbour view… much cheaper without a harbour view.I could go on and on… The flight would have to be the part that sux the most, but I agree with a couple of others that it will give the Aussies who don’t get to go to the conferences a chance to be at one. And it will also give a chance to the rest of the world to be the ones with Jetlag for a change
February 10, 2008 at 10:42 pm #760484biggygMemberI would definitely attend CAP AUSTRALIA ,probably the only one i would attend because the weather really suck at the other events and for me to go on a trip , I need to make it a vacation to justify the expense and also include the family.I dont like going to cold places in winter or hot places in
summer.
My niece just moved there from canada and cost her $2700 for a economy plane ticket.I recommend that we are given 1+ years notice as even economy will cost $$$$$. I am planning to go there for summer 2009 for our 21st wedding anniversary so would be a great anniversary party too .February 11, 2008 at 6:26 pm #760537AnonymousInactive@TheGooner 152787 wrote:
CAP South Africa holds limited appeal, as does CAP Canada, for similar travel reasons … although June 2010 of South Africa might be a special case (co-inciding with the World Cup).
I think CAP South Africa would be amazing… central spot for the entire world, and Capetown is supposed to be lots of fun. Always wanted to go there and this would give a good reason to make the trip

I just checked my distribution document for CAP Mag and we have 106 people in Australia and a whopping 7 in New Zealand which funnily enough has The Gooner down tice so make that 6
So lets say 40 people travelled to the event and 50% of the distribution turned up we would have 90 people which actually for a nice small niche event would be ok…..
I am actually going to map out some serious costs for this in terms of whether it is possible say in Nov 2009 or something – If enough people are interested in SA we can do a sml one there too – Maybe we could get a box at the world cup :wavey:
February 12, 2008 at 10:08 pm #760679Gyrnikol007MemberROCK N ROLL!!
:guitar:
February 13, 2008 at 4:03 pm #760747AnonymousInactiveOh YES YES YES – CAP OZ would be COOL!
I really like the idea of a long trip / making it a vacation (or ‘holiday’) especially. I’m sure there’s potential for getting a good group booking at a hotel eh
Also CAP ‘CAPE’ sounds good too …
I’ll keep my fingers crossed …
Cheers,

OMG i can’t imagine catching the train to a conference! hehe
The casino on queen street is called the “Treasury”, I go there about maybe once every few months, usually play blackjack
Oh and they have $3 daquiris! .. NICE!
February 16, 2008 at 11:56 pm #761071AnonymousInactiveI like Brisbane too and I think it would be a good location. I do think a lot of affiliates would prefer Surfer’s Paradise which is about an hour south of there. My personal preference would be Brisbane, but any big city there would work. Sydney would probably make the most sense since it is the most international city for flights.
