Have to work on getting a visa and plan the trip. I am not just going to leave for a week and fly there directly without stopping somewhere along the way so will make it a 2 to 3 week trip. Potential stops include Vancouver, possibly europe, Japan, asia, other cities/places in Oz, New Zealand and maybe even Brazil. This is stressful
I didn’t think it was necessary for you to get a visa to come here? I didn’t need to get one when I went to Canada..

October 20, 2008 at 1:24 am #783066ClubContMemberNormally I would expect no visa required since were both commonwealth countries. I think I have to pay $30 Canadian to get the Visa as well. I hear they are easy to get but still required none the less.
October 20, 2008 at 1:33 am #783067AnonymousInactiveYou can buy the tourist visa online which is what I do or if you do not have it they will charge you at the airport before you leave. Here you go:
October 20, 2008 at 9:34 am #783091AnonymousInactiveThere is details on visas here http://www.capdownunder.com/hotel-travel/ I think it is a pretty simple process
October 22, 2008 at 8:56 am #783493herschelwMemberI have just registered to attend CAP Downunder as an affiliate. However I was wondering whether tickets are being issued or will be my name just be on a list as I have received no official confirmation of my registration?

October 23, 2008 at 4:10 pm #783762Scratch2CashMemberJust booked my room – there seems to be a lot of rooms still available. The booking was 10x easier then booking in Cyprus.

No probs mate – looking forward to meeting you too
Tell you what guys, this morning when I was driving to work they mentioned The Australian Pub down in the rocks on the radio, and the sun is out in full bloom today… and it made me REALLY excited about CAP Down Under… The atmosphere in the rocks at the pubs etc is just amazing… its all so old and, oh no words can describe.. I just cant wait for everyone to get down here at least so I have an excuse to get down there myself!
We should start a countdown I think…
32 (Aussie) days to go?
October 24, 2008 at 4:31 am #783901AnonymousInactiveHas the “special guest” been confirmed yet? I haven’t seen anything around about it yet..
But, my guess is that it may be Joe Haschem?
I cant think of anyone else who would be around here and “special” in our industry for any reason.October 24, 2008 at 7:47 am #783917AnonymousInactiveStill waiting for them to confirm – Wish I could tell you more……Event is looking good though and getting a steady stream of registrations – Interestingly about 75% are from Oz or NZ so hopefully we will have quite a few new faces. What really excites me about this event is that although Oz is small (in terms of population) and the regulation is blurry as a market it is very exciting and has huge potential!
Oh Also Sydney people – an you suggest a short list of bars/clubs/venues for us to possibly use for networking events
October 26, 2008 at 4:46 am #784100sukjo1MemberRegulation sure is blurry… just ask the NRL (National Rugby League) and the football clubs. My top picks here in Sydney at the moment are:
Drift – Ravesi’s, Bondi Beach
The Marble bar, Hilton Hotel, SydneyBest Regards

Darling Harbour has some awesome clubs…
A couple include The Docks, Pontoon, Cargo Bar.. my favourite used to be the Daintree but they closed that down apparently. There is also a sportsbar right there for any sports fanatics.Another couple of good bars in the city: Zeta Bar (@ the Hilton), Europa Bar, Venetian Bar.
Ive also heard good things about Ivy, although never been there.. The Establishment is also poopular..In the east, there is the Eastern at Bondi Junction, Coogee Bay Hotel, Bondi Road Hotel. The list goes on.
Kings Cross has a reputation for clubs too, although you have to be in a particular “scene” to enjoy yourself there, and judging by the affs I met and saw at the parties in Barcelona, I would say that not many people would enjoy the area.
Most of our pubs are called hotels here.. So if you walk past somewhere that says “Johns hotel”, likely its a pub.. which means, lots of beer.
I will get a bigger list for you Alex
I went to the Terrace Bar on Sat night on top of Home Nightclub and it was not bad… Wouldn’t be a bad place if we didn’t have too many people…
If you could tell me approximately how many people you’re expecting to attend the notworking parties ill get my radar out for you.Personally, I think the clubs/pubs in the eastern suburbs (including bondi) are too far away. The cost of a cab from the city/darling harbour is too much to warrant going out there for a party because no doubt after everyone is blind drunk they will want to be heading on to other places and in terms of nightclubs, theres nothing out in Bondi unless you want pubs and they dont stay open til absurd hours of the morning.
The best bet is to find somewhere in darling harbour, city or circular quay..Another couple include ArtHouse, Priviledge Bar, Manhatten Bar (which i also went to on sat night, not bad for a smaller crowd).
Will get a list..
October 28, 2008 at 11:08 pm #784449ClubContMemberI am almost set to go, have flights and Visa done. Just hotel and conference registration left. I can’t wait to flush the toilets there!!!
