    Hi guys,

I was supposed to talk at the CAC in Vegas together with greek39 on Blackhat and site theft etc.
Just got an email that unfortunately the session will probably be moved to the Friday afternoon and so I cannot be there anymore. I have to leave early to get to Munich on Friday afternoon.

She has asked me if I knew anybody who could take my place for that.

    My topic would be:

Content Theft and the responsibilities of the affiliate programs.

    more on the topic: x-http://www.casinoaffiliateconvention.com/2006/LV/topic-scraping.htm

Anybody want to have a go at the programs about this? :D

Let me know so that I can pass on the info.

    Cheers

As far as I know I will be moderating that session, so whoever takes over can be assured that I’ll be there to help if anything goes wrong. Not sure what could go wrong though. It’s a good topic!

Munich, huh? I’ll be there next March, before Amsterdam. If you plan on being around there then, we should meet….Going to the Oktoberfest, are you?

    :D

I was planning to myself but isn’t going to work out.

Have “a Mass” for me! Or two. And a “Steckerlfish”. Maybe a giant Pretzel too.

Damn, I got to make it next year.

I’m not sure if Dave Sawyer (webzcas) will be attending, but if he is, he’d be a great choice.

Kev–do you know your travel plans yet?

My picks from CAP would be chatmaster, Dominique, clarkepromotion, kwblue, and anyone who is a good hacker. I have been trying for Eric S Raymond no response? must be hunting. greek39

    Thanks Dom!

I doubt im coming if I cant get sponsored in some form or fashion, Other than seeing you great people, I cannot justify spending the time and money invloved for my 4th trip to vegas this year :P

Its very odd, im so much bigger now than last year (from 2 sites to now over 20).

I did hear that cac cut back on available tickets (comps) to the sponsors, not sure if that is correct or not.

I would go for any of those .. the good with hacking thing is not all that important for what I was going to concentrate on. My part was more on what the affiliate programs should do with these types of affiliates and their responsibilties towards the good guys.

I am positive that you will be more than capable of handling the blackhat issues and the scraping technicalities, just need somebody to hammer home the point that the programs MAY NOT turn a blind eye or Pretend to be “looking into” the problem when ample proof has been submitted.

ie. Getting the offending affiliate to remove the copied content from a site is simply not enough.. more needs to be done. The offending affiliate NEEDS to be shut down for scraping and stealing.

Also, waiting 2 weeks to “hear back” from the affiliate is too long.. it took them aan hour to steal the content, it can take just as long to remove it.

These types of things.. so, anybody keen now? It is not as “technical” as you may have thought. :p
