Damian…
No agenda here…just calling a spade a spade.
What the hell do I or anyone else here have anything to gain?
Our group will just stick to the other industry events….
I also apologize that I did not know Marc ran a casino portal..my apologies.J. Todd…fully concur with your thoughts and giving someone an opportunity to respond.
Dom..I think it is far from being infighting…sometimes good groups need to look inwards and get rid of the cancer within….
This is my last post on this subject…as it is not worth the time or effort to point out the obvious.

Everyone at those Casino conventions be drunk anyway does that make you a professional?Re. standard – all of us should be chiseling out basic standards of conduct, basically just common business practices like a contract is a contract and a handshake is a hand shake.
The internet is chaos by definition, and in order to conduct business like professionals we need to set our own ground rules and enforce them ourselves. Otherwise we will be a bunch of crooks trying to ruin each other, rather than a cohesive industry. We very much need to be a cohesive industry.
Yep, lots of people drink a lot during conferences. Some to let off steam, some to conquer shyness, some just have a good time. The club scene is not for me, but I don’t knock those who find release of tension and better communication there.
All industries involving sales have these type parties, brick and mortar or internet.
September 19, 2006 at 5:11 pm #706545AnonymousInactiveI think if CAC went away there would not even be a blip on the radar. There are more profesional people such as Lou and Casino City who would easily and better fill the void.
I would rather give money to an organization I like and respect and who returns that respect.
J Todd i disagree that Mark is in a highly exposed area, he has never been a big aff, and putting on a trade show is several layers removed. Many of those who pulled out were so much more exposed and have experiance gaming attournies recommending that.
Sorry but I can get enough Networking done at CAP and GIGSI and all the other shows. I do not plan on attending any of other of Marc’s shows and recommend our Senior affiliates to support our Aff’s who have been slapped in the face by also not attending his shows.

It’s my understanding that anyone who accepts money from online casinos… no matter what form of payment… no matter for what services rendered… could be prosecuted for taking cash from “illegal proceeds” or “tainted funds”.
Directly from the mouth of the Washington State Gambling Director (when asked about prosecuting me in this state): ‘I don’t care if he sweeps the floors down there (at an online casino)… if he accepts money from them, those are tainted funds…’
A stretch? Hell yea it is… Could the government try it? Hell yea they could… Would they be successful? Well, who wants to volunteer to find out?
BTW… don’t you owe me a margaritta, bud? :tounge2:

I think we have discussed the Las Vegas event at length and arrived at a point where little more can be added that is going to benefit anyone.
I am personally disappointed that the US Government made people feel uncomfortable about traveling within our borders. Had that climate not been brought about by recent arrests then none of this turmoil would have occured. Instead we all would have had a great time in Las Vegas and would now be recuperating from all the parties, drinking and fiscal damage caused by the slot machines instead of having the discussions that are going on.
Its a damned shame that because of that climate of fear we are all going to be inconvenienced when traveling to future industry events. But those are the cards we have been dealt by Bush and Company.
Ultimately this is all water under the bridge. We can only look forward to what lies ahead and plan things accordingly. We cant fix the past.
Yes, I am aware that there are numerous other issues that came up during the course of all this, and I dont have a problem discussing those, but I dont see much changing and I hate to see us wasting mental energies on negative pursuits. Whats been said has been said.
If you guys dont object I will close the thread and we can move on to new things. Like I said if you want to discuss future events thats cool we can open new threads that are geared towards that topic.
Fair enough?

Thats exactly WHY many of us felt uncomfortable in traveling to Las Vegas Todd. And it wasnt right to label those of us that were concerned Sissies and Wimps or imply we had no guts…. I think thats what is pissing a lot of people off…. No one likes being insulted…
Hell… Like I said nothing good can come of rehashing this thing over and over… can we move on please?
September 19, 2006 at 6:59 pm #706560AnonymousInactiveThis conversation is over and done with. All angles have been scrutinized and rehashed to the point we are going in circles. I would certainly close this thread professor. greek39
