Judge Wingate refuses to dismiss domain name case
From the CAP Newswire:October 16, 2008 (Associated Press) — A Franklin County Circuit Court judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit seeking to block access to online casinos in Kentucky.
Judge Thomas Wingate said in an order Thursday afternoon that he will hear arguments on Nov. 17 before deciding whether to give Kentucky state government control of the domain names of 140 of the Internet’s most popular gambling Web sites.
Wingate said online casinos that don’t block access to their Web sites in Kentucky could be ordered to forfeit their domain names.
Gov. Steve Beshear’s administration filed the lawsuit. Beshear supports legalizing casino gambling in a state that already allows betting on horse racing, bingo and a state lottery.

Bring it back to the physical world … and consider :
If Kentucky residents have access to it …
It’s like saying Kentucky has jurisdiction over EVERYTHING on the planet – simply because Kentucky residents can travel there by train, plane or automobile … and can call them up on the phone.
:tongue:Or radio and TV broadcasts that transgress state boundaries …
:tongue:Talk about being out of touch with real world …
:roflmao:October 17, 2008 at 12:13 am #782790ClubContMemberwow these guys are ridiculous. Can’t make up their mind but it seems like something funny and illegal is happening behind the scenes. I wonder if the gov and the judge …(will keep this comment to myself, too political), seems like some collusion is happening. If they get the domains then it’s not going to shut things down and they should recognize that. If it happens to my program that I work for then the new domains are already to go. We just can’t decide if we should go ahead w/ the new names and the inconveniences with it or wait to see if this case is indeed full of sh*t which I believe it to be.
I was expecting this mess to be over with long ago but it’s dragging on for far too long. Maybe this really is a money grab for these lawyers since they are racking up a lot of expensive hours on the case. It is getting tempting to direct any KY traffic to embarrassing reports about this incident or PPA who are strongly opposing Beshear’s actions.
