They are getting until Friday then we step things up to a level they cant imagine and there wont be any easy way to undo whats done.

It will be the first time I use the word “shitty” in a program review, and I can think of several that have deserved it before.

I’m also not real great about updating that site, so it’ll stick for who knows how long.

    Email from Shane@referback
    just received

    Hi there all,

I am finally settled back in to life at ReferBack after my foray into the great beyond of San Jose – sadly it was work not a holiday but I had some free time and feel the US is a place I could easily live and work :)

Now that the new changes have had time to settle in please get back to me with any questions of concerns – I know I have asked this already however some have been very quiet.

I am currently consolidating all queries, views and concerns so that I can address them all in the best way possible.

One thing I will say now is that our silence of the forums is a good thing – it means that you have been heard and that there are urgent conversations happening. As soon as we have more concrete information we will release it on CAP and I will be sure to send it to you each personally.

Please bear with me as we work through this situation.

    Take care,

    Shane

Oh, by the way, Shane was in San Jose for the Search Engine Strategies conference. Apparently Referback is making a push to get SEO experts in various countries to build their own in house network of portals….

I hear of these talks also.

Just not sure how soon they will come out with something – and how good it will be.

Somehow I still expect some games being played. I hope I am wrong.

Competing with their own partners/affiliates is a real nice way to do busines isn’t it. Oh wait, they won’t have any partners/affiliates soon.

I think we owe it to each other to spread the word about any of these sites, if and when they appear, so we know not to exchange links with them. No sense being screwed by them once and then helping them do it for a second time.

To be fair, i think its quite fair for a business to be marketing their products and services. You’ll find that many other legit businesses operate affiliate schemes alongside in-house marketing, both online and offline.

Although that said, one does very much get the impression that they are looking to replace the affiliate model with straight-up marketing for sure.

Simmo, just because others do it doesn’t make it correct. That said, this is a touchy subject and I think there are very valid points for both sides. I just lean more to one side than the other because I see it along the same lines as a manufacturer/wholesaler competing with a retailer.

Perhaps if I was a merchant and not an affiliate I would see it differently.

Just copy&pasting Shanes email from this morning:

    Hi there,

I would like all of you to please get to the poll Zane mentioned in his post on CAP and vote for the removal of the 6 month rule – please we need you to do this to make sure it happens speedily.

At this time I cannot post on CAP directly but what I can do is to address another issues I saw… this post was made:
    5. RB has presence at SEO show during all this upheaval further showing their desire to be their own marketing company rather than using the AFFs that got them here.
Referback has always done some form of advertising and has over time run conferences and attended events with an eye to acquiring affiliates to grow our affiliate pool… never to grow the casino player base.

This was the case with SES in San Jose – as you all know I was there and had a great time. ReferBack was there advertising REFERBACK as a business opportunity. We were NOT advertising the casinos.

If you have friends on CAP please pass this on to them as our presence at SES was completely misconstrued.

    Thanks for your time.

    Shane

PS – I’ve attached a pic of the stand so you can see we were advertising RFB as a product.

    and a few minutes later:

    Hey there,

The poll page is still being coded we’re hoping for end of business today – if not we will launch it start of business tomorrow.

You will find it in the message of the manager.

So please login to your account and check the message of the manager area for updates and lets get this 6 month beast well and truly put down.

    Shane

I was coming to CAP expecting some kind of announcment, but nothing.
And if the 6 months rule is the only thing they considering getting rid off that not good enough!

I don’t think it’s the only thing they plan to get rid of – but it is the only thing they want us to vote on.

I think they will make the first deposit problem only applicable to the new deals that contain CPA. So you opt into that.

That leaves the no new player/20% deal, which they need to make going forward only, not retroactive as it stands now.

That’s how I understand the matter stands, although I have had no recent communications.

The master bullshitter spews crap yet again – not that I expected anything less.

Microgaming is now under pressure to get this situation fixed, and I am confident they will lean pretty heavily on the offending programs.

    I sure hope so.

This breach of contract thing is a really really bad thing if anyone gets away with it.
