Bowmans is an online gaming company that was established in 1984. Originally offering primarily telephone betting on sporting events, the company added online wagering, an internet casino and online poker and grew to become a well respected in the industry by both punters and insiders alike. Earlier this year Bowmans sold its U.S. based bettors to Bodog.com. This was prompted by anti internet gambling legislation introduced by the US government. That legislation was aimed at hindering financial transactions by U.S. players with offshore Internet casinos, poker rooms and sports books. Bowmans also announced that it would scale down its Mauritian operations centre at that time.
More changes are afoot at Bowmans, and this time they would appear more positive. Earlier this week Bowmans advised its customers that they have undertaken a partnership with UK based betting heavyweight Bet365. Details of the partnership are unclear, but Bet365’s standing in the industry is well established with estimates of its customer base being close to 1 million. Some annalists see Bowmans’ interest in any agreement with Bet365 being primarily the use of the latter’s well established operations infrastructure and their existing European exposure and business channels.
