    From the CAP Newswire:

    Boss Media Refutes PokerTrillion Claims

Legal action characterized as “without merit,” and player funds are safe, says Swedish company

August 19, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — Swedish online gambling software developer and poker network operator Boss Media has come out with a strong response to PokerTrillion claims that it has succeeded in litigation in a Maltese court in its dispute with the Boss Media’s International Poker Network (see yesterday’s report, “PokerTrillion Wins Litigation on Boss Media“.)

The statement is a strong refutation of yesterday’s claim by PokerTrillion CEO Andy Pyrah that a Maltese court decision ” … will in effect bring down Boss Media’s operation in their licensed jurisdiction of Malta on September 18 and any partner still on the Boss (IPN) Poker Network at this stage will see their service closed down, too.”

Describing PokerTrillion’s recent comments as “a reckless attempt to support a legal action that is without merit and [was] initiated as retribution for their dismissal from the Boss Media network,” a Boss Media statement assures players that their segregated funds are not impacted by current legal actions.

“To be clear, player funds are not affected by the current proceedings,” the statement advises. “All players’ funds are held separately under the control of the Malta Lotteries and Gaming Authority and cannot be seized by any court.”

Boss Media reminds readers that PokerTrillion is a former customer on the IPN that was terminated for alleged rake back violations.

“They have since then repeatedly tried to disrupt the Boss Media business through the dissemination of groundless rumours,” the statement claims. “In April 2008 PokerTrillion alleged in a press release a claim that among other things, Boss Media player funds where frozen. The allegations were false but typical of the type of tactics employed by PokerTrillion.”

The Boss position is that while there has been no judicial proceedings on the actual merits of the PokerTrillion suit, there have been preliminary hearings on the matter. “Boss Media has assured that adequate security is provided in Malta in the event of an award of damages against it which we believe be to unlikely,” the statement reveals.

Boss Media says it is currently exploring various legal options regarding its Maltese assets and assures interested parties that it has the requisite assets in place to ensure that its business will continue to operate with the highest standards.

“In the extremely unlikely event that any Malta operations would be affected, Boss Media has high-performance back-up systems in place to ensure continued service to all our customers and their players,” the statement concludes.
