I don’t know if this is a sensitive question but there are lots of discussions on Link trades and certain Page Rankings.
Would people mind sharing what their best PR is or what they strive for as possible?
In order to do trades what level of PR are you looking for in a link exchange partner. This might help us identify good partners amoung our group.

When someone asks me to do a link exchange, I’m generally willing to do so regardless of their PR. My thinking is that if they’re doing the work to get link partners, their PR is going to go up and I’m going to benefit from that.
When I look for partners to link with, I tend to discount sites that don’t have a PR of 3 or 4 or better. i.e., I don’t turn people away when they approach me, but I don’t necessarily seek out partners with low PR either.
Hope that’s helpful!
April 2, 2004 at 3:44 am #647254AnonymousGuestDitto. I share the same philosophy as Randy. While I don’t turn away link exchange requests from low PR sites, I don’t seek them out, either.
I actively look for links with high PR sites.
April 2, 2004 at 4:52 am #647259AnonymousInactiveI dont think pr is very important any more. I have a lot of pr 6 and pr 7 sites and they are no where to be found in google. At one point i had a pr 8 site and the same held to be true.

April 2, 2004 at 8:20 pm #647316AnonymousInactiveI will be honest, I dont know what google wants. I find that websites with the least amount of content, and that are 1-3 pages do the best. All of my focus is on inktomi for the moment.

April 2, 2004 at 8:26 pm #647317AnonymousGuestSpeaking of inktomi – what do they want?
I don’t see much coming from them, although for some reason google loves the hell outta my pages.
April 2, 2004 at 9:05 pm #647321AnonymousInactiveSince google’s latest shenanigans all my sites pretty much have pr4. Large established ones with huge traffic as well as little one page deals without any links.
My little linkless pages have much, much better exposure in the search engines than for instance Gamesandcasino.
Gamesandcasino is operating purely on branding, the little sites purely on SEO and I have one that is all PPC.
All these business models work. They all work differently, and none of them need any PR or links to work.
When I first put up the little seo pages, they had no pr at all for a couple of months. They still had good exposure in all the search engines. They also have little content to speak of.
As far as I am concerned, pr is for the birds anymore.
The whole scene is changing, and I get the most visitors now from MSN, then Yahoo, then Google. That is an average, it varies surprisingly between pages.

Switchin to google-flakes and msn-pops.
April 3, 2004 at 3:42 pm #647389AnonymousInactiveI do very well with yahoo. I bought a listing a couple of years ago and I receive decent traffic from them.
They just will not carry casino banners. Limiting a PPC is one thing, cutting an entire large section out of a search engine is a whole other story. They may cease to charge us $$$ but I very much doubt they will cease to list us.
I receive decent traffic from them in sites that are seo for google, minus the links, with small content.
I receive decent traffic frm them just about everywhere, and my MSN exposure is increasing all the time.
I find these two stable, and I am tired of googles escapades.
The entire scene is changing – and it always will.
I am actually more positive about the future now than ever – politically things are slowly shaping up. This is a fallout from previous policies, but I think it quite possible that the pressure put on the US by the world court and Great Britain may really influence things. More and more congressmen are looking at Britain and regulation as an example of how to handle this.
I agree with the Professor and the Captain that we will likely see google adwords go the same route. Already casino related sites are excempt from google contextual ads.
I would like to see a good PPC start up in a country other than the US. Why are so many things US based? Why aren’t others more enterprising? It would be a lot harder for the US to control businesses located elsewhere.
