You always have good points, BB
Yeah, it’s too bad Integrity can’t respond to let everyone know his viewpoint… But, then again, since he is no longer a part of CAP – private forums probably aren’t a good place for him, huh?
As far as copying, I didn’t really mean no one could compete Or that ideas aren’t stolen all the time Sorry to come across that way.
I give Lou my full support for doing what he has to do regarding APCW. Don’t get me wrong.
When I was referring to audits, RE: CAP taking them over… and relating them to AGD. What I ‘felt’ initially was that if CAP stole AGD’s ideas it would be wrong. Mainly because CAP is here to help affiliates, not get their ideas and compete with them.
That was my INITIAL reaction. I haven’t talked with Lou yet, but I don’t think he would ever do that to AGD – so I shouldn’t have put it out there!!!! Like I said, initial reaction. Sometimes we say stuff and hit that enter button before we think about them too much. Know what I mean? Well, by the time I re-thought about what I had said…. there were several posts. That’s the beauty of CAP – everyone weighs in as quickly as possibly on those ‘hot topics’.
I’m out!!!! No more references to that thought from me anymore.

Isn’t that the truth, I have made several of those types of post in the past and found myself thinking.. what was I thinking!
August 4, 2008 at 7:35 pm #774597vladcizsolMemberSorry for dropping out of the conversation. I was in transit out to California and storms in Atlanta made the trip a nightmare. I am back online now.
BB1 I agree with you the whole event was extremely confusing especially in light of what we have done in the past to promote APCW and what we had planned for J Todd on the new CAP TV network which will be launching soon. Perspectives could had a HUGE audience online with us and then when simulcasting across Europe on the SKY sattelite network starts up he could have been seen by nearly 60 million potential viewers on TV! Amazingly stupid move on his part if you ask me.
KW I will see if I can locate you this afternoon to chat.
One thing I want to clarify is this:
Auditing stats is not a novel or unique idea. It wasnt coined by APCW and its an extremly common practice in business. Even if APCW was still doing them, which apparently they arent since the shift to entertainment videos, we wouldn’t be stealing anything if we started doing them at CAP. It compliments what we do here in keeping affiliates informed and protecting their interests. We also have a lot more resources and reach and can facilitate independant audits better than anyone else in this verticle. As a service provider we want to meet the needs of the community. To service affiliates we will do whatever we can to make CAP better and more useful for all our members. Another added advantage is via CAP we have the realtionships in place to cause positive changes based upon audit results when discrepencies arise. It just makes sense for us to do it, so we will.
This really has nothing to do with the exit of APCW from CAP.
I also want to make this clear:
This discussion is held in private among CAP senior members. It’s not an open discussion where J Todd needs to respond. I was just keeping you guys in the loop as to what happened and why we decided to part ways with APCW. I didnt want this to develop into a circus on the general message boards and am ready to move on to all the exciting things we have planned for the fall. I wish J Todd the best of luck in the future and lets leave it at that.
There is going to a LOT of great new things going on at CAP, (we are investing over 100K throughout the rest of the year), and I want to focus on those. :hattip:
August 5, 2008 at 4:12 am #774630AnonymousInactiveI respect all of you here but if what is happening as Lou suggest and someone is going out of the private forums that is a no no and we all agreed to this in the beginning, I would hope that what is said here in private is kept here in private.
I think we all need to gear up and get our minds on making money, the HIGH season is around the corner and time to earn some bucks :hattip:

I think stats auditing along the lines of what JT did is a great idea and would certainly be useful, although in the interest of community relations, I’d hope that it wouldn’t be launched to directly compete with KW’s excellent “Terms & Conditions” monitoring. I can see there is a link between the two and that they could work together though.
August 5, 2008 at 5:45 pm #774720stevejMemberOn the idea of copying “ideas” etc.
I don’t think APCW audits are in the same realm as AGD for the reasons many have already mentioned, primarily: (A) the fact that there is no original idea here and ( the APCW audits are not taking place anyway.
I’d be happy to see CAP Audits because they have the financial means to do it better than anyone else, they have the forum to make it have more impact than anyone else, etc. Maybe it could have taken place thru APCW, but that’s toast now.
On the other hand if CAP rebuilt AGD, I think that would be unfair competition because AGD is already providing the service and I don’t think it’s missing any functionality. I can’t think of anyway CAP would improve on it either. I think CAP could easily replicate it (which could destroy Andy) and that would actually make a lot of people upset. But I don’t see this as being any sort of reality, so lets not worry about it :wink-wink
Also, I think what CAP does for AGD is great (and did for APCW)! I would not know about AGD or APCW if not for CAP.
on the J Todd mess
This is very unfortunate indeed. Hard to say more than that. Like Dom there, I didn’t post originally because it was all so unbelievable (or as BB1 says, Surreal) …. but basically just plain sad. -
