Can anybody recommend a good web hosting company?
I had HostBreak.com for $5 a month, with unlimited bandwidth, but they do not host poker sites due to policy issues.
What I would be looking for would be unlimited bandwidth, $5-$10 a month, good service (not many disruptions in hosting) and 50-200MB storage.
Any recommendations?

They have been very very good, and support is always there when you need. I didn’t notice any disruptions, at least prolongued ones.
They have a plan of 100mb and 4gb bandwidth for $8 if it fits your needs. You can also visit webhostingtalk.com to look for a company. They have special offers all the time.

they have an adult content policy, but nothing specific about gambling related sites…we’ve been hosted therr for a while…
Adult Content – Sites containing adult material, links to adult material, or adult-oriented merchandise must be approved by UMA. The final determination of what constitutes “adult content” is made by UMA.

That’s a lie. They can’t offer unlimited bandwidth. They can offer you a lot of space, they can offer unlimited emails, unlimited domain hosting, bla, bla, but what costs money is bandwidth.
If you use a lot of bandwidth I’m sure they will tell you that your site is spending too many server resources and you have to change your plan.
Bandwidth is the data transfer that occurs every time your webpage is viewed, or each time a file is uploaded to your server. If your website is a total of 45kb in size (including images and other media), then each hit will require 45kb of bandwidth (data transfer) from your site. No matter who the supplier is, someone must pay for bandwidth. If a host claims to offer unlimited bandwidth, I would suspect their policy would change rather fast if your account suddenly started using 10 gigabytes daily. If your host for some reason does not monitor your bandwidth, then it is likely that their server is paying for a dedicated pipe, and will not add additional bandwidth capacity to the server if that pipe begins to bear a larger load than it can handle. What this means is that the offer is legitimate, but you can expect the speed of the server to become slower in time, and if the bandwidth cable become extremely overloaded, then you can also expect to have frequent downtime.

They are OK for basic hosting but I’ve had problems when I wanted to do something a little more technical. As I have learnt always check the host company supports what you want your site to do.
Also there hosting info is a little vague!

Check out Lunarpages or Micfo they are both very popular and well thought of.

I was always a little skeptical of the “unlimited bandwidth” offer, and I ended up going with Powweb.com, which offers 5 GB/day of bandwidth with their basic hosting plan. So far, so good – no complaints!

April 14, 2005 at 2:24 pm #664150AnonymousInactiveI have hosted for several years with MoJoHost….. they offer 10 Gig a month for $15 up to 64IP’s, and storage space as needed…
I’ve never had reason to change from them, although I have a dedicated server for my own sites….

But at the end of the day you get what you pay for. They are located in London – so thats an added boon if you are targetting the UK market for serps purposes. But they are pricey.
The package I’m on, I get 700GB bandwidth a month – more than enough – Although I do share my server with another non gambling related site which I run – which is very very popular – So it has made sense to go the dedicated route.
