888 and the unethical affiliates promoting 888 have inflicted serious damage on many webmasters in the industry; the reputation of the industry itself has been damaged as well. I am not about to remove or edit my rogue page simply because another 888 employee has “promised” to take action. I have seen this before; I will be very surprised if we see some actual results. (Yeah, I’m a bit skeptical — what can I say.)
Therefore, I believe everyone should keep their rogue pages as they are, at least until we see concrete results. We shouldn’t forgive them or downgrade their status to “probation” first, and then *hope* they keep their promises. Think about the reason they were blacklisted in the first place — “ethics issues.” To suddenly have faith in a company that has been blacklisted because of known ethics issues doesn’t make any sense to me.
:clapper: I’m with Dave too!
Cheers

June 26, 2006 at 7:39 pm #696795vladcizsolMemberGuys I am in total agreement.
Nothing changes until we see positive and verifiable progress being made. Please do not remove links or reviews until we have reached that point.

What I’d like to know is, considering that there are 1000’s of webmaster in the same position that I am becuase of you letting these rogues promote 888 with unethical practices, what are you going to do for us?
I mean why should we be out of pocket!
PS greek39 you want to contact me, I can’t PM you, its disabled?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Cassava+Group&btnG=Search&meta=I will just give me little time. Perhaps I can explain the real story, Which so many are failing to see. I diabled my PM and others things because I will no longer contribute to this thread or others as they pertain to 888. greek39

C’mon, now. You have been a staunch advocate of cleaning up this mess. We ALL want to see you continue to support this effort. Do not let a little animosity throw you from the track again. I believe that 888 is going to finally do something about this and losing an advocate such as yourself is NOT productive.
Everyone appreciates your help. Moderators are here to keep threads on track and try to do so. I can tell you that the eCogra business is derailing many threads including one of my own (which I wasn’t thrilled with).
Let’s just keep this moving and create new threads as needed.
Again – you are needed here as we (hopefully) find a resolution to this mess. Without your help, I think we will have a more difficult time… But with your help, we should be able to solidly point out the real culprits and allow 888 to finish them off.
So – get your ass back in this thread! :hehe:

Yes, I turned that URL and it’s 20,000 or whatever compadres in about a week ago.
June 27, 2006 at 2:33 pm #696868AnonymousInactiveAlthough by nature we are all self interested people, I try very hard not to be . I don’t belong to any “rat pack groups” and I am not bound by any. I feel have the right to address the letter from Nicholas, in a logical formatt. Not on a different thread but this one.
I will never be able to do so because of self serving people looking after their own interests. Not all CAP members realize the full extent of the problem, I find this a deservice to all parties.
In parting I ask how will 888 tame the beast or beasts they help create. Failure to do so will only lead to the same outcome, except this time it will be ten pin bowling which has already begun.
I thank you Kwblue you have set great example to which all should aspire to!! I am confident you and others will be able to sort this mess out. For me all my material is going to the propper authorities, the SE’s and news groups.
Again good luck in this noble persuit, 888 is showing some good intent. greek39
June 27, 2006 at 2:48 pm #696869AnonymousInactiveI am not sure what you are alluding to here, but I am moderator and this is a very long thread about 888. It is my job to keep these things intact, it is a rule in just about any forum you may visit. Posts have to be on topic. I offered you to start a new thread so you could write all you wanted about eCOGRA or anything else.
Instead you turn off your PM and allude to things no one understands.
What is that all about?
June 27, 2006 at 2:53 pm #696870AnonymousInactiveI am not allowed to try and help people understand!!! most unfortunate and why is that?!!!
The letter mentions ecogra, is their a problem with me exploring this issue or is there a conflict of interest? What is the the freakin frequency Dom so I can tune in. greek39June 27, 2006 at 2:57 pm #696872AnonymousInactiveThanks for providing the request link, Dom.
June 27, 2006 at 3:17 pm #696873AnonymousInactiveI have started a new thread about eCogra and 888. Greek, I would love to hear what you have to say — if not in this thread, then over in the other one.
June 27, 2006 at 3:25 pm #696874AnonymousInactiveAlthough this thread’s topic is focused on 888 scraping, it’s like a vortex, with google, eCogra and other issues being pulled inside.
IMO The entire 888 subject matter is convoluted!
It represent a labyrinth of twists and turns, which like it or not, have directly or indirectly associated other parties.
Stating that an entity (google, eCogra and so on) have no rightful inclusion into this topic, is akin to saying ‘Royal Flushes’ in a topic about Video Poker, is off topic.
As much as I understand it’s frustrating at best to try and work thru this thread in keeping some type of order, I feel that excluding subject matter that is part of the 888 issue could be seen as being unfair.
IMO anything that affects and influences the 888 issues should not be discouraged.
