Exactly.
This is all about fixing a problem and getting on with things.
June 25, 2006 at 5:36 pm #696701AnonymousInactiveNow I am going to go play poker (very poorly and lose lots of lots0’s money) at my favorite poker room… :woohoo:
June 25, 2006 at 5:44 pm #696702AnonymousInactivePerhaps if I was given a chance you would know. I am not hear to punish 888 as you suggest. I would like 888 to address the issues I bring forth, no sense in dragging it out of me at this stage. Either I follow a logical argument or I do nothing.
I have spent close to a year on this topic, and the solutions you are seeking are not 100% workable. Open up the blinds a little, I feel funny that I have to defend myself over this issue.
Perhaps I should just leave this issue alone, and let other people handle it.greek39

It is maybe half the reason I am here.It is a long and winding road. Glad to be walking it with you old bean. Let’s see where it goes.
Turning back now, is akin to swimming 3/4’s of the way across the channel, to then decide to turn and swim back because the finishing line is too far away.

What kind of business sense would it make for them to pull the plug on the BH sites if they are fairly certain that the majority of the affiliate community will keep their backs turned on them.
If they were reassured that the community would promote them after the plug was pulled, they would be far more eager to get the job done.
That being said, I’m not sure there are many affiliates who would promote them very aggressively, at least not in the near future.
That puts them, and their shareholders, in a tight spot. Granted, it’s a spot they put themselves in….
June 25, 2006 at 8:38 pm #696711AnonymousInactiveI see it like this.
888 caused this mess all by themselves.
They’ve had more than enough time and opportunities to nip this in the butt, but, again 888 have chosen (their own choice) not to do jack sh#t about it.
When challenged out comes the threats of a law suit, obviously hoping that will get us off their backs. :laugh:IMO giving them anything is too much.
Did they give a toss about their rogue affs stealing our content and pocketing their cut, did 888 give a toss about any of us, of course they didn’t.
Although this is a issue for us, it’s not our problem. 888 should have acted responsibly, ethically and morally correct. They didn’t and now they have to wear that.
How’s it go, taking responsibility for your own actions!
This may just be the BIG shake up for 888. A PLC has to deal with its shareholders too. If this really blows up, heads will roll, they always do in these type of situations. Maybe John Anderson will be looking for another job.

When challenged out comes the threats of a law suit, obviously hoping that will get us off their backs. :laugh:I agree, hell it took them 6 months just to write a simple statement and that is only because they have now felt our heat and realize that we can have an impact on their business the same way they have on ours.
But in all reality, we all know what they haven’t done and at this juncture I am interested in what they are going to do. Just a mere claim that they are now taking decisive action will not suffice with me and I am sure most here would agree.
Their true colors have already been shown. Other programs here nip all offenses in the bud when brought to light, yet it took 6 months for them to make a simple statement. Lets cut to through all the bs and come to reality. They want our pages down and we want the scrapping to stop and to be dealt with. So what needs to be done by both sides to reach a resolution is what we should be talking about. I will let the more experienced veterans figure that one out.
Frankly I am waiting to see if they are going to play ball after talking with Dom. If they are not, then I would rather spend my time building links or something else that will bear some fruit. I do think we are close to it coming to a head as mentioned previously, and if they don’t change their tune then piss on them. I will always stand up and fight with my fellow webmasters here and put up rogue pages and such, but I will not be wasting anymore time posting about a company that has no intention of cleaning it up. It is futile and a complete waste of time and engergy and it doesn’t put any money in my pocket.
I do think an open forum would be productive if they would come here and face the problem. This board has more professionals than not, and although I think it may get a little heated, I am quite sure we can make it productive. Personally, it is my feeling if they cant take the time to come here and face the music, then they must not take this situation all that seriously. It would behoove them to step in the trenches now in an open forum instead of continuing to hide in the shadows. And if they do decide to come here and enter into the discussion, then I hope they don’t have the threatning lawsuit attitude as that will get them no where. They have a lot of balls even bringing something like that up and if they think the vinegar route is the way to go here then they are not that brite. Welcome to our world 888. It is a pisser when your the victim isn’t it.
June 25, 2006 at 10:29 pm #696716AnonymousInactiveThey certainly dug their own grave, so to speak.
Althought the future marketing strategies of 888.com are unclear – whether or not they get away from BH scrapers or not, one of the good things we have accomplished through our actions is to make an example of them for all other programs to see.
I’m quite sure that if other programs were considering or flirting with blackhat SEO marketing, they are much more likely to reject that avenue than before the 888.com issue was made a priority by affiliates.

Right on, and I think we should all give ourselves a pat on the back. Especially those who orchestrated this movement. You know who you are. Although our ultimate goal is on the come, we have definitely set the tone that we as affiliates are not just going to bend over and if you mess with the bull you get the horn.

June 26, 2006 at 1:33 am #696734AnonymousInactive888 was blacklisted and rogued because of their actions not because of us. They had almost a year to fix this mess. They have ignored all of us in choice of a bigger buck in their pocket, and now that they are feeling a pinch they want to come back to the table.
While I personally know very few who would ever consider promoting them based on this experience; I think Fergie is on to something. That being; the goal in the beginning was to have 888 address the issues. So if they are sincere and now do that and do it correctly, we should all consider our work on the issue a success. Better late than never; I think their actions over the next week or so will inform us of their true intentions.
lots0 you should be more open minded; more times than not origins of information, its couriers and its purveyors often remain behind the scenes.
