Threats don’t work with me. Whoever sent this had better have a DAMN good explanation.

Affiliate Relations
First of all, whatever accounts have signed up with you belong to me for life.
Second of all, I have not breached any of your conditions unless you have changed them.
March 4, 2005 at 2:39 pm #662353AnonymousInactiveHi Spearmaster,
Our sincere apologies!
It was not our intention to sound threatening and to offend anyone in any way.
We are currently trying to re-establish contact with affiliates that haven’t been to our site in a while.
I’ve sent you a private mail to further explain.
Kind regards,
Alida
Affiliate Relations ManagerMarch 4, 2005 at 9:36 pm #662396AnonymousInactiveI just love these affiliate programs who entice you into their program by telling you the customer will be yours for “life”. :woohoo:
Then after you have sent a long list of customers to their establishment they pull some s*** like this …. or they move their affiliate program to some freaking “Affiliates-R-Us” [or whatever] and you receive an e-mail telling you that you must re-register as the affiliate program is now being managed by some third party management service.
For Life .. means just that .. For Life! . . :banger:
I think we need to start filing class action lawsuits against unethical operators for any false and misleading advertising of their affiliate programs.
March 5, 2005 at 5:34 am #662425AnonymousInactiveHonestly, I wish there was an affiliate union.

Hmmmm, not a bad idea I guess.
March 5, 2005 at 10:10 pm #662453AnonymousInactiveThat is rude and to do it to Ted is just plain stupid, hey Spear I got your back on this one.
Just a suggestion to the affiliate manager, why not offer an enticement to have your lost aff’s come back, if they were making money with you better then their other aff programs they would never of left you.

Well, aside from your saracasm and the mob involvement, YEP that’s what I meant :drink:
March 6, 2005 at 5:35 am #662494AnonymousInactiveThanks Brian… LOL…
Actually, it comes down to this.
1. I don’t push them that hard because they have inexplicably been very tough to convert for me, even when they launch new product. So they were right in that regard.
2. I posted this publicly because I naturally assumed other webmasters got the same email, not because I thought they were trying to make an example of me or anything like that. I want to make sure all webmasters are getting treated fairly by every affiliate program.
3. Alida has apologized and offered to apologize in Vegas again (LOL). Her apology was accepted but I noted that certain words were tactless.
4. My kids’ school was on the receiving end of a similar email when they sent me two poorly-worded emails – the first one telling me that my child had impacted earwax (one sentence, with no explanation or solution) and the second one began with the words “It was unfortunate that you did not attend the parent-teacher meeting…” and I was livid over the word “unfortunate”.
5. People can be very nice to me in many ways, especially in person, but I go ballistic when I feel as if I’m being threatened through email, because (and a warning to everyone) I keep *all* my emails for records.
That being said, this should be the end of this thread. And as for a union… we more or less have that here, unofficially.

We don’t have any rules but that we post in a professional manner and don’t insult people.
We don’t have any leadership per se or any decision making body, nor do we want to.
But we are a group of affiliates who have become friends and will stand up for each other as needed and as such we do function sort of like a union.

No sarcasm intended . . that’s just the way it is . . and quite frankly I’m all for it.It certainly works here in Vegas.
March 6, 2005 at 10:14 pm #662533AnonymousInactiveAhh, yes this is kinda like a union. I know I’ve been helped several times here by some very nice folks
March 7, 2005 at 1:39 pm #662579AnonymousInactiveDear Affiliates,
Firstly, Thanks for your clarifying post Spearmaster.
Just to explain in more detail what happened as it seems there is some misunderstanding…
We targeted two groups of affiliates in an effort to re-establish contact and to find out if these affiliates are still interested in working with us.
•The first group that was mailed has never logged in since they opened an account with us
•The second group has not logged in for at least 6 months or longerAgain – it was not our intention to offend or threaten anyone and our sincere apologies if it was perceived as such.
LasVegasLady – I’m sorry if you misunderstood the communication we had with Spearmaster. I assure you that none of the individual affiliates in any of these groups had ANY movement in their accounts, or player earnings for an extensive period. Should new earnings arise, we will honor our agreement with affiliates, and pay any and all earnings due. We never have, and never will close any accounts with ongoing player movement, unless there was a direct breach of our T&C’s. These communications were aimed at dormant accounts, in an effort to re-establish contact.
Islandman – your suggestion of rather enticing affiliates is a good one, and we will try this with these groups.
I agree with both Spearmaster and Islandman – the content of the mail could have been more tactful. Spearmaster is in fact a well respected member of the industry, and has accepted our apologies.
Overall – we had a very positive response to the exercise and from here onwards we hope to build new relationships with these affiliates.
I trust this issue is now resolved.
Kind regards,
