The 888.com (“888”) brand is one of the most respected gaming brands in the world today and represents one of our most valuable assets. We are committed to nurturing and growing it by utilizing only best industry practices in all of our marketing activities. This approach is part and parcel of our general approach to doing business. We believe that as a gaming company especially one operating in the unregulated realms of the World Wide Web and as an industry leader we have to set an example and operate according to ethical principles which are second to none. This is why we participated in the bold move of setting up E-cogra and this is why we will be happy to challenge any complaint directed at us on any aspect of our operation.
One of 888’s important marketing channels is our Affiliate Program, which is one of the largest in the global gaming industry. We are very proud of this achievement in the highly competitive affiliate environment and are committed to the highest ethical standards in all its activities.
Recently, we have been accused in the Casino Affiliate Programs (“CAP”) Forum of participating in and condoning “blog spamming” and “site scraping”. No official process of any kind was conducted by ANY authorized party to verify these allegations. Additionally most of the affiliates who have been singled out for practicing “Immoral” marketing techniques on 888.com’s behalf are providing marketing services to several other large and small online gaming companies. Strangely enough only 888.com was continually accused of working with these affiliates. Some CAP Members have even raised the suspicion that our competitors have directly or indirectly contributed to these accusations. While we have repeatedly attempted to contact several members who have lodged complaints, our attempts were ignored.
It seems resolution is not what the accusations are aimed at achieving but rather damaging 888.com’s hard earned reputation hiding behind anonymous identities as the Web permits.
Let’s address some of the facts:
Our Affiliate Program has contractual terms that clearly specify our stance against any illegal marketing activity, including “blog spamming” and “site scraping”. All of 888’s affiliates are required to sign and agree to adhere to these contractual terms. We have recently investigated several hundred affiliate accounts that were brought to our attention and immediately blocked the ones who have violated our policies.
In a further attempt to clarify our policies, we have also added a notice in our Affiliate Program’s homepage outlining our Ethical Marketing Practices Policy with a link to report any misbehavior of our affiliates.
Each and every time we receive a credible allegation that a member of our Affiliate Program has engaged in any sort of illegal or illicit activity we will investigate it thoroughly. If the evidence that is gathered proves wrongdoing there will be decisive action taken, including blocking their affiliate account and suspending all payments, towards the affiliate found in breach of this policy
We encourage all CAP moderators and members to share any evidence of misbehavior of our affiliates and 888 guarantees that there will be a prompt and efficient investigation. However, that being said, we will not tolerate baseless accusations by anonymous moderators or members and will take legal action against those who libel 888.
We would like to take the opportunity to commend the majority of our affiliates who help make 888 the leading global online gaming brand without resorting to methods that violate our policy. We look forward to working together to responsibly grow 888 and contribute to the online gaming industry.
Sincerely,
Nicolas Lev

I think we should put our differences aside and concentrate on this recent development. I would also make this public to give people a oppurtunity to post their thoughts and maybe this whole mess can be cleaned up.

e: [email protected]The way I am feeling after reading that, Random Logic better be prepared for a lawsuit of their own!
Guys seriously, all that have rogued 888, proof read what you have written. Take Legal Counsel if possible. My view, BRING IT ON!!!
June 23, 2006 at 1:23 am #696471AnonymousInactiveThis is the anonymous moderator speaking.
The last thing 888 wants is a law suit.
Not going to happen.
June 23, 2006 at 1:45 am #696473vladcizsolMemberExpect to receive at least a registered letter from their legal counsel, more likely you will be notified via process server that they are filing a civil action against you. This is a scare tactic and like Dom said they most likely will not want to go to trial. Stand fast and don’t blink. If we get through this next phase we will have won.
Sending Ziv in to plead his case was step one, the threats and intimidation attempts are step two, if we dont shit our pants and run away then they will actually negotiate a way out of this where we get what we need. They are making a lot of money from this scraping and spamming and they wont give it up without a fight.
This is the extension of that fight.
June 23, 2006 at 1:54 am #696474AnonymousInactiveWell, they can’t have it both ways.
Either I am anonymous or they serve me.
June 23, 2006 at 2:00 am #696475vladcizsolMemberThey are most likely doing background searches and asset discovery right now on all the people who posted in the threads and that have black listed them. Those of us that have a pot to piss in will be served or threatened vigorously. No one will have a chance to remain anonymous for long.
But hey we didnt start this war they did. We just decided to fight back. There is no turning back now.

Fuck that shit. They can serve me in person with papers when I knock on their door to demand to speak to John Anderson.
Furthermore, I am going to instruct my lawyer to serve 888 the fuckers that they are with papers!
June 23, 2006 at 2:04 am #696477vladcizsolMemberI wouldnt enter their property without your legal counsel present. They may file criminal charges against you. I wouldnt put anything past these bastards.

June 23, 2006 at 2:09 am #696479AnonymousInactiveAs for Ziv, patience is a virtue. He best remember that!!!
June 23, 2006 at 3:16 am #696483AnonymousInactiveMan these people must really be hurting. As sadistic as it sounds this is what I was trying to invoke with my posts last night. Ziv is very much behind this latest development I can guarantee that. I got Ziv a few weeks ago just didn’t bother following up on it.
If they sue then we counter sue and suspend trading at the LSE. I am confident we have more than enough ammo to fire back at them. I won’t shit my pants over this and runaway. United we must be!!
I realize I have angered some members over the ecogra, but this was one of viens that invoked these new developments. But my opinions on the matter are firm and won’t change until John Anderson is outta there.

June 23, 2006 at 6:13 am #696492AnonymousInactiveWhat concerns me is the fact that legally they most probably have a very good chance to succeed if they go that far as to take this to court. The only place we have a chance of proofing they did something wrong is if they made public statements about the blackhat SEO’s carrying their approval. I can’t remember them doing that, hope I am wrong! I would really like to get some legal advice here. What I do know is that if they go that far, they better be prepared for allot of publicity all over the world. In the end I see 888 fall very hard. I also doubt their investors will be happy about the publicity. I mean seriously, it is like they do not care what they do, they just want to make money! I view this letter from them as a blackmail letter!
I also have a sneaky suspicion that eCOGRA is putting pressure on them. The fact that 888 is now threatening the credibility of eCOGRA must seriously put some pressure on 888 to fix their screw-up. There is no doubt that their figures must be at an all time low as well. But they made the choice and they have to bare the consequences.
June 23, 2006 at 1:35 pm #696515AnonymousInactive888 Threatens Legal Action
I thought it was going to be the other way around; I thought CAP was planning to file a lawsuit against 888? :eh:
However, that being said, we will not tolerate baseless accusations by anonymous moderators or members and will take legal action against those who libel 888.
Just remember… it isn’t “libel” if it’s true.
June 23, 2006 at 2:02 pm #696522AnonymousInactiveIndeed what we have found is true and accurate. I do not think anyone is going to be sued over anything. This is the world wide web developed where freedom of speech and open source is welcomed and respected. Legal action may come if we were to slander someone personally, this would be libel.
If this matter did end up in court, by which authority would prosecute and if a lawsuite was lauched I believe we have lots of evidence contrary to what 888 is saying. Not too mention who would be involved, some pretty high profile people pioneers, especially Raymond. He is all for the freedom of expression and can easily bring down Ziv to the point of begging.
I have seen this stuff before, threats only. Why is it 888 remains indexed on google is beyond me. I have heard some aff programs have been suspended from google for less harmful stuff than what 888 is doing. I know I will be hanging my head out there. The facts I have are pretty tuff to dispute.
Just last night I found at least fifty scrapes from engineers site. But I have not covered that topic yet.
Ecogra I would imagine is pretty pissed off right about now. greek39
