    888 Casino’s Certification Revoked on CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com

Las Vegas, NV – 05/05/2006 – CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com (“CAP”) a leading online gaming industry resource, announced today that they are revoking the certification of 888 Casino. The decision is in response to 888 Casino’s failure to reach an amicable resolution involving known content theft and blog spamming being performed by their top affiliates and consultants.

A CAP spokesperson explained, “These illegal activities are negatively impacting thousands of affiliates and online marketers worldwide. There a number of programming teams operating with the approval of 888 Casino which are flooding search engines like Google and Yahoo with thousands of spurious search results. This angers searchers and makes finding legitimate destinations on the internet difficult if not impossible. These rogues are also robbing bandwidth and corrupting web logs with millions of commercial messages all linked to 888 Casino. This abuse of the system tarnishes the image of the industry as a whole and can not be allowed to continue.”

To resolve this issue CAP has been in negotiations with 888 Casino for the last six weeks, but so far they have declined to comply and have stated they are not interested in a resolution at this time.

CAP had been seeking the following action items from 888 Casino on behalf of their affiliate members:

    1. Issue a public statement indicating that 888 Casino does not condone nor will they reward content theft or illegal marketing practices by their affiliates or marketing consultants. If affiliates or marketers are discovered to be engaged in these practices their accounts will be closed, they will be banned from the 888 affiliate program and their proceeds or commissions due forfeited.

    2. Addition to the Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions a provision stating the above policy.

    3. A good faith effort by 888 Casino to adhere to these policies now and in the future.

“ALL CAP Certified Programs must work vigorously to protect the rights of all of their affiliates, even if that means policing affiliates who maliciously hurt others for profit,” said Lou Fabiano, managing partner at CAP. “By condoning these actions we have no choice but to revoke 888 Casino’s certification, effective immediately.”

According to their website 888.com, 888 Casino’s flagship property, is one of the leading Casino and Poker Rooms on the Internet. Since its official launch in 1997, over 20 Million people have experienced 888com’s exciting gaming action, making them the leading Online Casino.

CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com is a trusted resource in online gaming industry with a rigorous certification process for casino programs. 888 Casino became a CAP certified partner in 2005.

This may sound stupid, so feel free to shoot me down here, but has anyone approached google about this issue? I’m sure they would want to know about such unethical practices, and there is nothing better than going for the jugular. Does anybody remember the German BMW homepage SAGA? We can kick up a fuss as much as we like but what we really need is one of the big SE’s to blacklist them as they do for other unethical practices. Perhaps some form of petition to google could work?

There are thousands of ways of attacking this problem without Google. Goole would probably appreciate us handling this in our own unique way. But yes, there has been several complaints to Google directly as in “can you tell us who is doing this?” .

CAP has step it up, and the news will spread like wild fire. As for the people doing the hedious crimes, for me personally I will handle it in my own unique fashion. On this post right now I can send the whole file over to some friends without even telling them. They will pick up and do something about it. All my scrapers have vanished in less the 24 hours. I let some scrapers in and play around for a while, I find it amusing sometimes.

But for the ones doing the crimes,Get a life! Saturday Night Live, may happen.

    Greek,
I agree that google would like us to handle this in our own way, which we are doing, with some degree of success. However if I was owner of a SE I would definately want to know about any sites that were attempting to spam pages in order to manipulate results. Unfortunately I dont have the same confidence as you that google is A) watching this or b) taking action. I believe that by handing google a petition protesting against the techniques mentioned in various posts on this forum, we are doing to things. 1) We are presenting ourselves as honest webmasters wholeheartedly against these spam activities. 2) We are trying to clean up our industry that has been tarnished by certain operators within it. Yes what we are doing at the moment is good and is working, but surely getting the Search engines on board to help our plight will not harm us. I will send the petition to google myself, I will detail all the evidence that we have gathered so far, inlcuding the statements made on this site, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can go about this. I was thinking name of webmaster and link to website that you operate, surely this would be enough? If I start a new thread and each member posts on it, simply name and url i can then send it off, perhaps it could be sticky? Any thoughts? moderators?

What about marketing our cause on a wider scale. We could get a domain such as ban-888.com and put a petition on there with some background information. We could also ask everyone who was directly or indirectly affected by 888s actions to email google and other SEs. Or maybe get some overeager politician on the job.
They are always very susceptible to get involved with any odd cause. After all gambling is “bad” and a gambling site manipulating search engines and spamming blogs must be “very, very bad” sly.gif

Guys I think everyone should petition Google at:

    http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html

David you are most welcome to add our press release to your RSS feed. The more exposure we get on this issue the better. I honestly beleive if we all raise the volume up loud enough on this problem then we will get a resolution in the end.

Guys remember this, we are RIGHT. Whats being done is WRONG. If we fight this long enough and hard enough we WILL prevail. It’s never an easy struggle, but generally right does win out if we stay committed.

I am setting up a petition on my site as we speak, i hope to have it done in an hour or so, all you will need to do is enter your name and url of your site, (The list will be strictly confidential and your name and site will not appear on the page, all people who sign the petition can put a link to any further details that they may have regarding this issue on this page however). I like the politician idea, I’m contacting a number of news feeds to see if they will run with an article I have written to go with it I’ll also post it here when im done). I will also post in as many webmaster forums as i can. I hope together we can make ourselves heard and let it be known that we will not stand for this kind of behaviour.

I view a petition is a good thing of course, but make it as professional as possible. Also I would mention to Google the servers/domain hosting who are not willing to take affirmative action, such as Moniker. This approach would wipe out thousands of scapes pages in one sweep.

I agree with all, press releases, petition, spam reports, setting up rogue pages(great ideas) ect… anything to get these monkeys of our backs.

A total Google ban for 888.com is possible, this I am sure most of us would love to see.

Bewise I think the petition idea is good one. If we all stand together we will eventually win, that is my believe. As for google watching this story unfold I cannot be 100% certain. But when I see Google entering my sight to view my news page it makes me wonder. I remain confident Google is watching and waiting.

So basically I agree with all actions mentioned so far. Dom’s idea I consider to be brilliant. I am hoping everyone fellows her lead, for CAP they have done some incredible things which I just sit back and go, WOW!!! CAP has takin the high moral ground on this issue.

Keep up the pressure, I will be doing more hunting later this week, I ran into something last night that is interesting. Will post as soon I get all the details.greek39

Cheers greek, im working on it now, I have a press release that goes with the petition so if we can all push this out to as many forums, blogs and pr sites as possible that would be great, the quicker we get the word around about it the better. I will post the article here first to give other members an opportunity to add and comment on what has been written already. Greek plaease feel free to pm me some technical stuff that you want me to include in the letter to google. Lets keep up the good work.
