Winning Millions Cancelled 5.5 Hours into Tournament (Updated) | Professional RakeBack

Winning Poker Network ran the first 7 figure online poker tourney in nearly 4 years for American players on Sunday. Unfortunately, it crashed and burned due to a massive cyber attack.

I was playing in this event myself, it was a $540 buy-in event. It was only 40k shy of its guarantee at the time of cancellation and still had about 40 min of late registration to go. It would have exceeded the guarantee. Had the servers been going well, it would have likely crushed it.

Seems that there are a lot of attacks on big poker events – i remember that’s not the first one in the past months. I wonder who stands behind it…Any ideas?

Yes you are correct. We did a piece a few days ago about increasing prevalence of cyber attacks on online poker sites. At least 8 networks that we know of have been attacked and there are more for sure.

In so far as who is doing it, yes, the authorities have been contacted as well.
