The popular Zynga Plus Poker is now available as a real money Facebook gambling app. It’s a key component to Zynga’s overall Facebook strategy and is, currently, only available to UK players.
Though Zynga’s been offering real money poker via a downloadable client since April of 2013, but this is the first real money poker app has been offered directly to Facebook users. Though it’s administered through Facebook, the app itself is linked to the partypoker network.
The idea behind this move was that the partypoker players would benefit from the masses of social players who log on Zynga gambling games every day. But, as PokerFuse.com recently reported, that hasn’t really been the case.
If Plus Poker takes off on Facebook, it will be the best news to hit the troubled San Francisco-based company in quite some time. Though they once ruled the social gaming roost, Zynga’s financial fortunes have lagged considerably since the company went public back in December of 2011.
Since then, they’ve been looking at real-money social gaming, and even land-based casinos, in hopes of pumping up their revenue streams.
In the spirit of of getting cash in hand, the company also announced that they’ll be accepting Bitcoin for some casino games – though not for poker.
Though Zynga Plus Poker is Zynga’s first real money poker product, it’s not their first foray into real money gambling. They’ve already been operating Bingo Slots Frenzy in the UK for more than a year. (That product is also only available to UK players.)
