7. Reid/Kyl Dies
The dream of online poker in America could turn into a real nightmare unless Congress can pass some sort of Federal Poker Bill.Senators Harry Reid, Nev. (D) and Jon Kyl, Az, (R) have a draft version of just such a bill, but have failed to get enough support to turn it into law. As the gavel sounded on the last session of the 2012 Congress, the two men declared the bill dead for the time being.
Without a Reid/Kyl, gaming operators and affiliates could be subjected to a different set of regulations in every state they serve. A nationwide set of gaming laws would also help regulate tribal gaming interests, which are tough for states to regulate.
We weren’t surprised to see the Fed bungle Reid/Ky, but it’s bad news nonetheless.
