Mobile sports betting is massively popular UK punters and, according to a recent survey conducted by Onavo, William Hill is their preferred choice. Onavo’s reporting that 38% of UK mobile sports bettors prefer using William Hill’s mobile app.
While the findings from the report are encouraging for William Hill, they also suggest that there’s plenty of room for growth in the mobile UK market.
For starters, only 4% of UK iPhone user even use their mobile for sports betting in the first place. That comes out to around 372,000 punters and around 141,000 of them prefer William Hill.
Coming in a close second in the survey was Paddy Power, Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker. Nearly 32% of respondents (119,00) were partial to the power of the Paddy.
In third place was one of the UK’s biggest gambling brands, Bet365. Only 24% (89,000) of respondents preferred their mobile offering. That’s interesting given that Bet365’s recent earning reports showed mobile bets were up by 150% over the previous year.
Though it’s clear that Bet365 has a little work to do with their home audience, there’s little doubt that they’re a major force to be reckoned with in any country. Bet365’s clients are actually using the app more often than than other punters.
As is often the case with desktop bettors, mobile bettors have no problem using more than one sports betting app, no matter which one they prefer. For example, 17% of Bet365 users also wager with Betfred from their mobile devices.
