As it gets set to roll out a new online bingo platform, Nordic-based Unibet, one of the world’s largest online gambling companies, is also setting its sights on European expansion.
Llike Playtech’s announcement last week that it’s now entering the Italian market via a new licensing deal with Ongame, Unibet is doing the same. Not only that, the company has announced plans to expand into France, as well.
“On unibet.it, the Italian players are offered Sit & Go, scheduled and multi-table poker tournaments on the Ongame P5 Poker Engine,” explains Unibet Group’s Investor Relations page. “During next year poker cash games, casino offerings and sports betting will be added.”
The Ongame Network “is the world’s largest B2B poker provider and a leading supplier of online and mobile poker software,” according to a related news release.
“Re-launching our operations, using our own technology and joining Ongame network is the first step of our market re-entry in Italy. With the imminent introduction of cash games, we see great value in the Italian market,” Unibet CEO Henrik Tjärnström explained.
“Unibet is a well renowned brand, and we are very happy to work with them in Italy,” added Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame. “With the addition of Unibet, and later the introduction of cash games, we will see new energy coming into the Italian market both for players and operators, since we will see more products and better liquidity which will lead to increased revenues.”
The announcement comes shortly after Unibet had announced similar intentions to join Ongame Network France and enter the French online gambling market.
