Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator Underdog is boosting its content portfolio in a major way with a multi-year deal with Gil’s Arena, a popular digital sports broadcast. It’s a deal that locks in the entire cast of the fifth largest daily sports broadcast in the country, according to Underdog.
Under the terms of the deal, Underdog locks in three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, host/executive producer Josiah Johnson, NCAA Champion Rashad McCants, NBA Champion Nick Young, NBA All-Star Kenyon Martin, Hall-of-Famer Sheryl Swoopes, Mr. Basketball USA Brandon Jennings and WNBA Champion Lexie Brown into long-term deals. Along the way, Underdog picks up plentiful mentions on a show that’s already racked up more than 500 million views on YouTube. Arenas will also be providing Underdog with regular picks (which will surely relate only to DFS).
Arenas explained the synergy of the Gil’s Arena/Underdog connection saying, “Underdog built us a platform and more importantly created a real partnership to share our unfiltered takes with fans. We’re building a one-of-a-kind basketball network here, and this is just the beginning – we have big plans for the future.”
Liz Marro, Chief Marketing Officer of Underdog described Gil’s Arena fits into the Underdog ecosystem adding, “This partnership is at the center of our media network expansion and proof of concept for our belief in bringing fans unvarnished and incredibly deep sports content. Working with Gil and his team has been incredible, and we are going to continue to elevate our sports content and build the best sports entertainment experience for our customers.”
New episodes of Gil’s Arena air every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on YouTube at 2:30 (EST).
