June 19, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Worldwide online payment processor Ukash, used widely in the online gambling industry, has announced a new partnership with MasterCard to correspond with the launch of a new service going live in Europe.
According to an article in iGaming Business magazine, this move is part of a strategic initiative to enable consumers to load cash onto prepaid cards at point-of-sale locations. By partnering with MasterCard, Ukash with be better able to deliver a rapid-scale launch of its new “MasterCard repower”.
Currently, Ukash processes several million transactions each year, with values amounting to more than €100 million, according to the article. Partnering with a globally dominant brand like MasterCard is sure to escalate that figure.

Ukash reportedly plans to enable the new service across the United Kingdom before moving into the rest of Europe.
