May 18, 2010 (CAP PR Wire) — When tickets were released for sale earlier this month for the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (“UFC”) 115 event in Vancouver, mixed martial arts (“MMA”) fans set a new record for the fastest sellout in UFC® history. A missed opportunity to pay for seats doesn’t have to be the end of story, because UB.net has a pair of much sought after tickets up for grabs that will have one lucky winner and a guest heading to the June 12th UFC®115 extravaganza for free.
UB.net has signed on again as premium presenting sponsor of Rogers Sportsnet’s weekly sports show, MMA Connected. The weekly magazine style program features upcoming UFC Pay-Per-Views, with host “Showdown” Joe Ferraro serving up all the latest news, previews and reviews from around the Octagon, including fighter profiles and analysis.
The MMA Connected title sponsorship will see UB.net receive exclusive exposure via ‘in-program’ promotional spots and on-air mentions during the show, plus sponsorship of MMA Connected Online as part of the package, which involves “Showdown” Joe’s blog in the MMA section of Sportsnet.ca, as well as the 5 minute MMA Connected webisodes streamed online each week.
To celebrate the MMA Connected partnership, UB.net is running a series of daily freerolls from May 10th -29th, with the May 30th Main Event Freeroll awarding the winner with the ultimate prize package, including two tickets to attend the UFC® 115 event at the General Motors Place in Vancouver on Saturday, June 12th, plus $1,000 towards travel expenses.
Players can participate in four daily freerolls scheduled at 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 ET every day during the run of the promotion, with the top 50 players in each of these qualifiers earning a seat to compete in the Main Event Freeroll on Sunday, May 30th at 14:00 ET. Go on to K.O. the rest of the field in this grand finale freeroll to snatch the pair of seats along with travel money to attend the first UFC® show ever to be hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
A highlight of the UFC® 115 event is the headline fight which pits legendary MMA fighter Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell against former UFC Middleweight champion Rich “Ace” Franklin. The clash of the two mixed martial arts icons promises to be one of the most explosive pairings of the 2010 season.
“The Iceman”, a popular and charismatic fighter in the Octagon, has also proven to be one of the sports most enduring draw cards. The 40 year-old all-American UFC® Hall of Famer hit the headlines again last year away from the cage via his Season 9 turn on reality phenomenon Dancing with the Stars (“DWTS”). Despite a week-four elimination on the ABC’s DWTS, Liddell was not afraid to swap his hard-as-nails image for a ‘twinkle-toed two step’, winning hearts and admiration for his steely determination on the hit primetime television show.
Liddell’s transition away from the mirrored disco ball back into the Octagon makes this match up against Franklin at the UFC®115 one of the most hotly-anticipated showdowns set to rock the GM Place in Vancouver.
The UB.com UFC® 115 freeroll tournament series continues the leading online poker site’s strong association with the world of MMA, which came out swinging 12 months ago in the highly visible sponsorship of welterweight fighter Martin Kampmann, quickly backed up by UB’s UFC®97 collaboration.
