August 12, 2008 (InfoPowa News) — The online odds comparison provider Betgenius bought UK data provider Turftrax for an undisclosed consideration this week, increasing its horseracing content through the acquisition of the latter's Internet, mobile, and interactive TV racing information.
The Turftrax Form guide is widely recognized in the horse racing industry as a comprehensive data and statistics service. Its unique form guide covering all British and Irish horse racing is supplied free and via premium content subscription at Turftrax.com and also through various other media channels including Sky, the Daily Mirror newspaper and the Ladbrokes.com website.
A company spokesman said that Betgenius will use the new purchase to increase the range of its offer on flagship odds comparison site Bestbetting.com and enhance its horseracing content and coverage, including an in-depth statistics service and the TurfTrax.com form guide.
The deal includes the continued employment of Ben Clifford, previously head of betting services at TurfTrax, who joins Betgenius as head of odds comparison and media services and will be managing the transfer of the TurfTrax new media products.
"Turftrax fits well with our strategy of collating betting-specific data for the bookmaking industry. It allows Betgenius to supplement the industry-leading Bestbetting offering for the punter and with the unique historic data that it provides, further improve the quality of the products that we offer to the bookmakers," said Mark Locke, commercial director of Betgenius.
