Totesport is taking the social media revolution seriously, with the news that the leading online bookmaker has just developed a new online gambling app for Facebook with the help of the UK’s University of Bolton student Kasoma Siamuwele.
Kasoma Siamuwele of Bolton’s Multimedia Web Development (MWD) degree course “was thinking about ideas for his final year assignment” when Totesport, whose head office is nearby, “approached the University’s School of Business and Creative Technologies (BCT). Totesport wanted ideas to raise their online brand awareness within a younger demographic and attract more students to their website,” explains the University of Bolton’s website.
The new app will allow users to bet on sports against their friends — but no money will be exchanged, at this point. The app is designed solely for entertainment purposes, with more emphasis on social networking than online gambling.
Still, it’s a pretty smart move for Totesport, and affiliates can bet that they’ll be seeing a lot more adds for the online betting powerhouse if this new app is a hit. And when online gambling becomes legal in the U.S., this is the kind of early branding move that could pay off big not only for Totesport, but also for the affiliates who promote them.
