#5 – Calvin Ayre Indicted
It’s hard not have at least a grudging respect for Calvin Ayre, the Hugh Hefner of Internet gambling. But Bodog’s big boy hasn’t made many friends at the US Department of Justice. As it turns out, the DOJ doesn’t think there’s anything cute or funny about having Ayre constantly thumbing his nose at them.
Last February the Feds indicted Ayre for running an illegal gambling business and seized a couple of his, unused, domain names.
Not one to take things lying down, Ayre has hired a high powered defense and, as Jay-Z would say, “Plus I got a few dollars so I can fight the case.” We think Ayre will come out of this one smelling like a rose.
