October 14, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Bad news disguised as good news? Reports continue that the status of land-based casinos, particularly in U.S. gambling mecca Las Vegas, are continuing to plummet.
In August alone, the casinos dropped 9.3 percent in revenue, representing the 20th straight month of losses. That’s unprecedented in the modern era, and attributable to the current economic recession the the U.S. (and most of the rest of the world) currently finds itself in.
“The Nevada Gaming Control Board reported that monthly revenue for the first two months of the fiscal year that began in July fell nearly 11 percent compared with a year ago,” reports the San Jose Merceury.
For online gambling affiliates, however, this is hardly bad news. It represents in part the shift that modern gamers are taking, away from land-based gaming and on to the Internet. As more people decide to save themselves the expense of travel and accommodation and gamble from the comfort of their own homes, there’s never been a better time to take full advantage of the opportunities in online casino affiliate marketing.
