2008 saw Poker Star keeping up with frantic growth and an increasingly mainstream profile. Every event seemed to get bigger than the previous one and purses of more than a million dollars were commonplace. Adding to the excitement were the ever more elaborate prizes being cashed in on by VIP players. In February, a player called Bigjoe2003 cashed in enough points to buy a million dollar house!
With an ever growing audience, PokerStars expanded its operations in a couple of different ways. Online, they overhauled online lobbies to enhance the player experience. In the brick and mortar world, they opened up the PokerStars Macau poker room in the Grand Hotel and Casino. With seats for 160 players, the room was an immediate success.
