Online casino PokerStars.com has announced the launch of its inaugural Latin American poker series, the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), with stops in Brazil, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
The LAPT is set to bring world-class poker action to some of the most exotic destinations in the world and begins on in Rio de Janeiro from May 3 to 5. This $2,500 three-day tournament is set to be the largest poker event ever held in Brazil and will see players battling it out for a total prize pool of over $600,000. PokerStars.com stated that Team PokerStars Pros members Andre Akkari from Brazil and Humberto Brenes from Costa Rica would be taking part in the action.
The LAPT will then continue on to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, from May 22 to 24 before moving on to Uruguay for the Punta del Este from August 7 to 9.
PokerStars.com players will be able to qualify for the LAPT via numerous online satellites beginning this week starting from just $2.20. The Isle of Man-licensed site will also be giving players the opportunity of winning a $5,000 prize package that will include their buy-in.
