Paddy Power will be paving new ground in the real money social gaming space when Paddy Power In-Play, Facebook’s first RMG sports betting app goes live later this summer.
Being the first-to-market in this sector gives Paddy Power, and its affiliate partners, a major edge over their competitors in the sports wagering market.
Paddy Power In-Play was developed by the company’s Dublin and Sofia-based product teams and is currently in the beta-development stage.
Not surprisingly, the Facebook focused app will feature a full slate of social features as described by Peter O’Donovan, Paddy Power Online’s Managing Director in a press release from the company:
The app will add social engagement to online betting, enabling customers to bet on a wide variety of sporting events through Facebook, while also giving them visibility of, and the opportunity to engage with, other users.
Though they don’t mention it in the press release, the name Paddy Power In-Play suggests that the new product will offer a live-betting component.
Paddy Power is the fourth igaming firm to put an RMG offering on Facebook and certainly won’t be the last. Gamesys won that contest last year when they launched Bingo Frenzy.
