PokerStars
No conversion about the future of online poker would be complete without a mention of the PokerStars.
This venerable, and maybe a bit notorious, brand is trying desperately to break into the regulated American market and its enemies are trying just as desperately to keep it out. As it turns out, the American Gaming Association (AGA) has a very long memory and takes the term, “bad actor,” very seriously.
Though the AGA effectively shot down Rationale Group’s efforts to purchase the Atlantic Club Hotel and Casino, the poker giant is not giving up on New Jersey all together. They’ve been sniffing around for a partnership with an existing casino, which will probably be an easier sell to NJ regulators.
