On the heels of this week’s earlier story that Ireland is raising its taxes on online gaming companies comes the news that the Irish government has backed research claiming that “a global phenomenon which ‘may well be incapable of full regulation,’” reports RTE Business.
The paper adds that “a ban on advertising would be difficult to enforce, and suggests looking at blocking offending websites” that don’t comply with Ireland’s online gambling regulations.
Interestingly, Ireland is one of the countries that has enjoyed success with online gambling regulations, and is home to a number of prominent international brands like Paddy Power and BoyleSports.
