Online Gambling for French Canadians

November 19, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Online casino players are soon to get more options in Quebec, where the president of the Loto Quebec organization has just announced to the Montreal Board of Trade that he plans to introduce state-run Internet poker and online sports betting.

“The plan is for Loto Quebec to begin offering the online gambling options in the summer of 2010,” reports OnlineCasino.org. In doing so, Quebec will be joining the company of other Canadian provinces that currently offer state-run Internet gambling, including British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland.

“In Canada alone,” the article continues, “online gambling has grown at a steady rate of at least 30 percent per year since 2003 with transactions expected to exceed $1billion by 2012.” It makes sense that the state wants to get in on that.
