Inside sources from the European nation are currently reporting news that the government has allowed a select few domestic online gambling operators to commence operations within the country.
The company will start licensing almost right away after a fierce battle was fought by Czech gambling companies including bookmakers and lotteries. Tomas Bahnik of Fortuna Group, one of the operators likely to be licensed, said of the proposed regulation: ‘This is very strict and well monitored, in contrast with foreign Internet companies. Every person, including teenagers, can use Internet betting without control. Our main goal is to control this situation.’
Naysayers had been concerned that the industry would be hard to regulate and problems such as children gambling could occur. However, bookmakers said this was happening already with unregulated foreign companies and that Czech sites would be safer for Czech people.
