September 4, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Austrian-based sports betting powerhouse bwin e.K. has suspended online sports betting the German market, at least for the moment.
The German-facing sector of bwin Interactive Entertainment A.G, bwin e.K has been has been engaged in a battle with the German government over its right to offer sports betting online to German citizens. Since the introduction of the German State Treaty on Gaming, most forms of online gaming and gambling marketing have been banned in the region.
While it better develops its formal legal arguments, bwin e.K. has decided to temporarily suspend online betting business activities in the area. Read more here.
