FanDuel is in the process of re-branding its TVG racing channel into a full-time watch-and-wager network that’s broadcasting 24 hours a day. It’s a big move that would likely spur other US-facing sportsbooks to similarly up their broadcast/streaming game in a significant manner.
FanDuel’s move towards more broadcasting was first reported on by Legal Sports Report late last week after the site received supporting documents from FanDuel employees. Under the proposed rebranding, TVG would still continue broadcasting horse racing from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., but would open the rest of the day to programming that seems more like a sports-betting focused ESPN.
According to Legal Sports Report, a typical day of programming on FanDuelTV would look something like this:
- 5 am-6 am: More Ways To Win (NBA content)
6 am-7 am: Bill Simmons & The Ringer
7 am-8 am: Former Good Morning Football host Kay Adams hosting a new SportsCenter-style show
8 am-9 am: Pat McAfee
9 am-9 pm: Live racing with cut-ins and sports updates from FanDuel talent
FanDuelTV’s proposed overnight broadcasting (9 p.m.-9 a.m.) would be dominated by what FanDuel calls “tertiary” sports such as international basketball, and pickleball. It’s worth noting that this is a draft schedule and FanDuel doesn’t necessarily have all the names on this list locked down under contract.
FanDuel’s move into full-time broadcasting isn’t particularly surprising given the current market and available technology. Company executives have been very open about the fact that their company is both a sports betting operator and a media company, making this move a logical next step.
FanDuelTV could launch as soon as September 2022.
