Apple is expected to bring its third generation of iPad to market within the next few months, according to a report by DigiTimes. Although no one knows exactly what to expect, a few rumors have emerged. Sources report that the new iPad will probably be slightly thicker than the current iPad 2, allowing for better resolution for the millions of iPad users around the world.
The iPad 2 remains highly popular. However, Apple seems to be about to phase it out of the market. Forecasters estimate that 15 million iPad 2 units will be built and sold in the fourth quarter of 2011. Apple is expected to scale production down to about 5 million units in the first quarter of 2012.
Meanwhile, Apple is expected to invest heavily in their new model. FoxxConn, the world’s largest manufacturer of electronics products, is expected to produce nearly 10 million iPad 3 units in the first quarter. January may be a slow month, but production will likely grow in February.
Clearly, mobile media continues to play an increasingly more important role in the lives of consumers and the businesses that reach them.
