International Gaming Technology (IGT) is teaming up with the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to bring its popular Double Down Casino app to hotel’s website. This marks the first time the popular Facebook app has been paired up with a land-based casino.
Double Down Casino is a social gambling app that operates on a model much like Zynga’s popular Texas Hold ‘Em. First time users start out with a million dollars in virtual chips and can buy more as they go.
Keeping Visitors Engaged
For the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, hosting Double Down on their site is a way of staying in front of visitors, even after they’ve left lovely Las Vegas.
IGT Vice President of Global Sales explained the strategy in a press release saying:
Engaging through the website allows players to remain connected to the property … with DoubleDown Casino simply providing the gaming content.
IGT’s Social Strategy
IGT purchased DoubleDown last year as part of its strategy to promote its traditional slots products through social media. To that end they’ve been partnering with a number of land based casinos across Nevada and California, though Hard Rock is by the largest.
