AGA vs Rational Group
The Rational Group, owners of massive online poker sites like PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker are trying desperately to get a piece of the action in the newly opened New Jersey igaming market.
Over the last year or so, they’ve been looking to plant a seed in that market by purchasing the struggling Atlantic Club Hotel and Casino. Sounds pretty straightforward, right?
Wrong
The American Gaming Association, still smarting over Rational’s disregard of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the pre-Black Friday days, has thrown every legal obstacle in the way of Rational’s American adventure.
Rational says the AGA is afraid of foreign competition, while the AGA says Rational is a bunch of greedy criminals. Oh, and last week the Atlantic Club filed for bankruptcy.
The lesson here is that plenty of folks in the igaming business are not exactly the forgive-and-forget types.
