Did Google Just Roll Out an Update?
There’s nothing quite as terrifying to casino affiliates as a sudden drop in traffic. Traffic is the lifeblood of the business and without it, revenue streams dry up completely. More often than not, these dips get blamed on affiliate marketing’s number one bad guy; Google.
Unlike affiliates who cry, “Rogue,” Google conspiracy theories usually find plenty of support on SEO forums and why not? There has to be a reason why your traffic isn’t what you’d like it to be and Google’s history of killing affiliate dreams via updates like Panda and Penguin make them the perfect scapegoat.
The Truth:Blaming Google for your problems is a lot harder than actually figuring out why your traffic has suddenly gone AWOL. All too often, these rumors fizzle out when the original Chicken Little cops to SEO techniques that are decidedly black hat.
This isn’t to say that Google updates aren’t responsible for traffic crashes, just that some problems originate a little closer to home.
